Did you enjoy it? Did you hate it? Did you think it was boring? Take a glimpse back to those spops days and let us know your opinion.
I found him boring.
I also think it’s weird when people say he is the perfect candidate to replace Master Chief as the protagonist of Halo 5. They might as well suggest that Palmer replaces Cortana, oh, wait, THEY ALREADY DID IT ON SPARTAN OPS!
The Ops characters are just a bit too cheesy. Same with the characters on Reach. Halo CE was much more adult oriented then these new games…
That said the Campaign storyline in Halo 4 was amazing.
I am actually little concerned that Thorne might actually be the next ‘‘Master Chief’’ in Halo 5 or 6 since 343I keeps bringing he’s name up in Spops.

The one thing that I thought was interesting was that his friends/family were involved in the New Phoenix accident. But besides that I agree with ur post.

Agreed on everything you said.
For some reason I don’t like Spartan IVs. They’re just too arbitrary and generic. Spartan IIs are frigging awesome, Spartan IIIs are tragic (aside from Noble Team), ODST have flair and coolness to boot, and Spartan IVs are just bland, unimaginative, arrogant, and appear like tryhard wannabes to be.
I thought Thorne was pretty bad -Yoink-. I enjoyed his design and his passion to be the best Spartan he could be. It was also lovely that Demarco burned his chances with Palmer in Episode 1 and Thorne, like, automatically became her favorite.
Like I said, though, I enjoyed his character, his design and his voice-actor. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of him. Him replacing John, however? Blasphemy.
I found it interesting that Halsey threw him the key. I think he’s going to have to make a decision that may make him appear renegade to the UNSC.
We already know that he has curiosity (got himself teleported into enemy base lol).

Agreed. ODST’s were soldiers pushed to their mental and physical limits, doing far more than what can be expected from a normal human being (hence why they tend to joke around at times but ultimately stay focused on their task(s)).
The Spartan III’s (imo including the Noble Team) were the tragic heros and fallen warriors that risked all to give humanity one true shot at saving humanity.
The Spartan II’s are the elite super soldiers. They defy selfishness and at times the selfish orders of their superior officers (favorite line from Master Chief in Halo 4: calmly saying “No sir” to the captain of the Infinity) in order to do what was right for the betterment of others.
The Spartan IV’s seem like a bunch of teenagers in power armor that are “stoked” about being called Spartans. They are far less disciplined than any of the fore-mentioned groups. They are aslo less conservative with their tactics and far more brutal with their attacks (for example, look at the assassinations). They are still showing off and trying to understand their new strengths, armor, and title as Spartans.
For some reason, i think many of them will die off. This will give the Spartan IV’s that remain a bitter taste of reality, making them realize they aren’t invisible and allowing them to start understanding the true weight of carrying the Spartan title.
They’re new and their young. I, we, don’t like them now, but give time to mature. Let them become structured and learn the importance of team work. That said, Thorne can never replace John’s place in our hearts and minds, and 343i will face a rebellion if they even attempt to do so.
…
On a side note, I don’t think I will ever like Palmer’s character. I’m sorry, but she just gets to me. I admire the voice acting that went into her (as with most if not all of Halo 4’s characters), but I do not enjoy her character. This is supposed to be an adult game, so why can’t we have some mature characters?
Also, I miss having ODST’s. I guess the new Spartan IV’s are an attempt to replace them, but I would enjoy their return. I would also enjoy an update on Buck’s ODST squad, just to know what they’ve been up to.
I like Thorne a lot. I can see him and the Chief working together, perhaps with him learning from the Chief.
As for the other Spartan-IV’s, I think 343i intentionally made them act like arrogant teenagers. They are young and inexperienced compared to other Spartan classes and they have come nowhere near to what Spartan-IIs and IIIs have faced. I think that soon they’ll get a taste of reality and we’ll see a more serious side to them.
I feel that the entire crew of the Infinity is Expendable (Except Master Chief). I expect that most of, or all of the crew will be destroyed at some point because there is just way too much dissension among the crew. Too many people doing whatever they want. If you ask me - The quicker they get rid of Sarah Palmer and her band of clowns, the happier i’ll be.
I liked Thorne as a character. You could clearly see how much he grew and developed as a character and Spartan over the course of the 10 Episodes.
Thorne reminds me a bit of myself in a way, and some of the other people I know in person. I’d love to see more of Thorne because he is one of the very few likable characters in Halo 4, but I’d just like to see him with a bit more expression in his voice. A lot of the time he seems pretty tired.
