I want your opinions and thoughts on this, do you think bots can/ will make an appearance in Halo 4? And do you want them?
Bots have been in games for a long time now, but the more popular games have really only just begun to add them (in the past few years). Gears of War for one has had bots available in multiplayer matches for years now, and it has worked really well. Call of Duty recently (i say recently, but it was a while ago) added bots into multiplayer in Black Ops, so why is Halo still lacking this feature?
I’m not saying do what Gears of War does and have online matchmaking games filled with AI players, but just have a local mode, similar to the Combat Training mode in Black Ops where a player can hone their skills, goof around without affecting any other players experience, or just get to know the maps for those new to the game.
So, do you think 343i will do this, or do you want them to?
Bots in online and offline multiplayer would be a fantastic idea, would definitely set Halo 4 apart from the previous Halo titles and more than likely attract more players due to having even teams online, such as when a player quits, a bot simply takes over. Let the bots have the traditional settings, Easy, Normal, Heroic and Legendary to determine their difficulty, online bots would be set to heroic for example, whereas offline you can choose their setting. Overall great idea to be honest
In all likelihood, bots are probably not going to happen…but if Halo 4 somehow did, i’d love it. Some of my favorite multiplayer games had bots in them, like the TimeSplitters games.
Bots should be for training only.
the great thing about halo is you dont know who you are playing and the different styles people play make it unpredictable.
but the bots would be great for training and playing offline specially for those who arent online give them taste for it and maybe encourage them to play online
Halo Wars had bots in it’s Multiplayer, and I must say, it’s a lot more fun to face the bots than other people in HW. Mostly because everyone’s strategy in HW is to build the maximum number of tanks and then just do a full on assault on the other player’s base.

If they did that I would love it. I think messing around in those types of environments is a lot of fun. However as you point out bots don’t have a place in MP at least as far as I am concerned.

> Sure, they could be in non-forge maps but it’d be incredibly difficult to make a good AI that can handle Forge Maps.

I agree, something of this scope would be incredibly difficult.
Hopefully the matchmaking system will be fixed for H4 so new players can have an avenue of experience the learning curve.
The problem with bots in halo, is that halo is sandbox. Far to many variables and unpredictable things are possible in halo. To try and give an AI the brain to do all these things in a balanced matter would take up SO much time and space its ridiculous.
The reason bots work in gears is they only have up to 10 players in a game. And whats possible in gears is very limited lol. Run, take cover, shoot, sprint, respawn. There isnt a whole lot of depth to the amounts of things you can do in gears so its easy for those bots to behave within boundaries.
