Hey Everyone. I just want to touch up on something recently found in Halo 4, that a lot of N00b’s seeming to be using. It is a glitch with the Active Cameo which allows the user to not be spotted on the radar whilst in Camouflage. This makes the player not visible whilst moving, standing still, firing and so on. 343 Need to patch this glitch in the next update because it is out of order. If you guys have experienced this glitch or for that matter know how to do it then please post it here, for the glitch to be patched we need to know how to do it first. Thanks everyone and 343, please fix this in the next fix update in a couple of weeks time!
I coped with this for the first 6 months or so, but that was the extent of my patience. Now the secret is out and I find it being abused far more often than I’d care for.
Has 343 ever sounded off on this?

I Have actually only experienced this recently in in the last month or so, It was like a one of thing back in like may but now everyone is doing it, its just ridiculous, But if 343 don’t know how to do it themselves they can’t fix it.
Active cameo reminds me of this
About the glitch, yes it has been known for a long time and I see people who use it all the time. It has not been fixed yet for some reason, maybe it was intentional from 343 the whole time…?
It may just be something that can’t be fixed without messing everything else up and saying that would just get negative reaction anyways. I believe it’s their policy to not talk about any glitches unless the are fixed as to not draw more attention to them.

You’re likely right. It’s not fair to assume everything can be fixed.
Not acknowledging the bug is a somewhat common strategy in my world of software dev. But you’d think the PR people would get out ahead of it… I’d rather they acknowledge the fault then ignore our feedback, especially for something as prevalent as AC.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure its an unintentional glitch. I two despise of Active Camo but I think calling them noobs is asking for a flame war. If people are given tools such as AC, unfortunately they are going to use them. The glitch is defiantly something that needs patching though.

I believe he was calling players who intentionally exploit this glitch “N00bs.” I don’t think he was saying that about everyone who uses AC.
I believe they havent fixed the glitch because the community doesnt deserve it. They are fine with all the other things that has made halo 4 “accessible” so why not leave this glitch alone since its not a direct FU like the sticky/thruster pack glitch or instant reload glitch were. If you want 343 to fix things like this you have to take a general stance of “I want this game to take still” if not I dont think they will waste their time.
If they wanted to fix it, they could have just inserted the same line of code that regen field has that prevents it from being activated while crouching and it would have been solved in the interim until they could fully patch it.

You sure seem to know a lot about their coding and how it all works.
> You sure seem to know a lot about their coding and how it all works.
I am of course assuming but it is a logical assumption(deduction and some experience seeing game code of different games) given that usually for something like a powers activation parameters or requirements the coding work is relatively simplistic and a more or less “yes if A, B,and C are True” while the coding for the power itself is more complex. Using that logic, since the AC glitch is activated through crouching at the same time as activating the power the removal of crouching being included in the activation parameters(as it is with Regen Field and Hardlight Shield) would fix the issue although in a less elegant and seamless way(which I admit bluntly I do not know if it is possible elegantly because there isnt enough data for me to guess) but would assume can be done since it kinda is their profession to code things and they made the game.

From my personal coding experience When the code to execute the crouch animation, the code to activate the camo visual effect, and the “radar jammer” code are all activated at once, the latter two seem to trump the “jammer” code and force it to become lost in translation.(probably an error in the netcode)But if I’m right, all they would need to do is set priorities and possibly delays for the execution of the strings… But don’t hold me on that…
There you go, a honest educated guess. Of course 343 is too…busy… to be bothered regardless.
I haven’t experienced this glitch but, to be quite honest, the only thing I can see that’s wrong with this glitch is being invisible while firing. Being invisible while moving and not appearing on radar should be how Active Como should be in my opinion.
> Being invisible while moving and not appearing on radar should be how Active Como should be in my opinion.
I am so glad you don’t work at 343

^This emphatically.
If you feel that being invisible with no drawback belongs in a halo game as a default ability you are not even trying to play a competitive skill based game. How about we have you play legendary where all the elites are invisible with swords. If you would not like that from the computer why would you want that from another human being.
I also would consider you lucky if you haven’t seen it being used or had it used against you. Either that or you are just not noticing them using it and just get ambushed or assassinated and think nothing of it considering there is no indication of its use after the ambush begins unless you are sure you cleared a room completely.
Meh, I didn’t mind it in Halo 1-3 and I surely won’t mind it now.
> Meh, I didn’t mind it in Halo 1-3 and I surely won’t mind it now.
In HALO 1-3 YOU COULDN’T SPAWN WITH IT and use it as much or when ever you liked
We can only hope that AC is reinstated as a map placed powerup that has a single limited use on a respawn timer in H5
