The absurdity of Banshee hijacks

Why is this possible? I suppose the idea was it would make for a better counter against the Banshee in the instance that two or three people can’t focus-fire on one for whatever reason. But making it so ridiculously easy to hijack a Banshee that is performing a roll is insane. It just renders the roll and its use for splattering enemies (which has been a thing for years) obsolete. It’s not hard to actually dodge a rolling Banshee before they splatter you, especially when every Spartan has thruster packs. And getting that close to the ground in a Banshee is a gamble in itself, so why ruin the chances of the Banshee pilot further? Saying that the Banshee pilot shouldn’t get that close to the ground isn’t a bad argument, but it loses weight when a Spartan is able to hijack the vehicle when it’s locked in the roll animation, moving at a speed at which any other vehicle would kill the Spartan. And the fact that the Spartan can not only just ignore the several-hundred-pound vehicle slamming into their face and throwing them up in the air, but can easily take the vehicle is madness.

What I saw was that you executed the flip within a time-window that could have allowed them to board just as the animation was happening.

It’s even more plausible when we account for latency issues. For them, they jumped up and hijacked but by the time the info relayed back to you, it looked like a ranged-boarding.

Normally I would argue that hijacking has become too easy in general, but I see nothing wrong with the example you’ve provided. You got too close. The roll ability isn’t meant for splattering opponents (it just so happened to work that way in Halo: Reach). Besides, you barely even touched him. By the time you began your inside loop he was already over your right wing.

When that I happens to me, I usually just stare at my screen in disbelief, angry and confused

I’m like: “AGAIN”

You were flying really dangerously, learn how to do the flip-bomb that SPL1CED does and you should be fine.

Dude hijacking a banshee would be a miracle for me. I’m always getting freaking divebombed in the back, plasma blasted and it usually takes like 20 tries before I even get lucky with the hijack.

It looks kinda like you rolled after he hijacked, that may be the issue.

Don’t get so close. I have seen many spartans try to use the banshee as a warthog or wraith to try to splatter people, I believe this is a fair counterbalance.

I’ve been playing halo since 2001. At no point since the introduction of the banshee tricks have they ever prevented/canceled a boarding action.i don’t understand the issue here.

I don’t even go for them anymore if the pilot is even slightly competent. I just wait for him to come out of a dive on a teammate and rip into him with my AR.

I’ve actually fallen off of a banshee mid-hijacking because he rolled.
Only once though, so it’s possible it was just lag.

the only problem is that you make a mistake to get closer
