While in a vehicle such as the Warthog or the Mongoose in Campaign missions to be stealty while sneaking behind or around enemies.
this would also take into account while driving slowly the enemies would notice less of your presence.
it’s a simple addition to the game that would make campaign missions in the dark very interesting to play, or just fun to play silently or while rushing through the (part of the) mission on full speed.
How would you be sneaky in a warthog? If they add new mechanics to the driving, they should make it so if you double tap X or RB you dive out of the vehicle instead of casually unbuckling your seatbelt and stepping out of your seat.
It’d be cool if they had night-time maps for multiplayer as well if they were to put in this feature. You could drive around with your lights turned on, giving away your presence but also allowing you to see in front of you, or you could drive with your lights turned off, being more sneaky but risking crashing into stuff.
This is just my opinion but I think its an unnecessary feature but cool at the same time. with the lights on the Warthog you could just simply shoot them out although by doing this you would cause damage to the Warthog but making the Warthog take no damage from shooting out the lights would solve that problem.

It could be really useful for some custom games… Think about it.
Also in the game type options you could select if you want players to be able to turn on and off their lights and if their lights are on or off.
I also have another idea that came into my mind - to be able to turn on and off the engine with another button on the d-pad. When you enter a vehicle, it automatically turns on but you can then turn off the engine if you want. And in an air vehicle it would be handy if you were really high or were getting shot at.
EDIT:
It would also be cool for custom games if you made your map dark and people couldn’t see your warthog if you turned the lights off. Also some maps could be dark by default…

I was thinking along those lines. And what the OP was talking about with the stealth aspect with this feature, it wouldn’t really be a lot of help unless we have a map that is based in the dark, and you have a game type like Capture the Flag or Territories. The feature for turning out the lights on the Warthog would be beneficial in these situations for flanking the opposite team and by driving slow and without lights but in any other situation you wouldn’t think about it and need it.
Would need a lot of tweaking because in the newer Halo games (and in CE), as soon as you get in a vehicle, the enemies are all over you. Of course, in H2, if you cloaked, you could slip past enemies unnoticed.
But yes, that would be nice. I’d like to be able to turn off the headlights with my flashlight. It’s best use would be for positioning since you can’t be stealthy in a tank… or can you?
I see no harm being do by it so why the hell not? plus it would be another awesome tool for Machinimas, which by the way should be as beastly as they were in Halo 3, in Reach they just weren’t the same.
i could not find a serious use for this but would add something kinda cool to the warthogs and i would like for 343 to add that. It’s the little things that count

Small things like this make the game more fun, just because.
