When me and a friend were recently playing Legendary Coop on Forerunner, we noticed something:
At the end of the mission, when the Infinity is crashing Cortana says: “Impact predictet 77.8 kilometers to north.” Note that this scene takes place in an environment you have not played in the campaign. Is it likely that 343Industries made this environment just for this one cutscene? The next scene you see is already in the jungle of the next mission.
Now, 77.8 kilometers seems like a pretty long way, even for a Spartan II. A lot of things can happen on this way. Maybe even an extra campaign mission?
I know, campaign DLC has never ever been done before in a Halo game, and it this is only speculation, but an extra mission would fit perfectly in this case.

I dunno, I have a feeling that he didn’t do much asides from walking/running/sneaking around between that part and the combat section of the mission, explaining why we don’t see anything happen or get to play that area.
Well forerunner isn’t the 9th mission I think. and I don’t think much could have happened it was really speedy so probably that distance was lapsed really fast
I think that a Spartan can run at 60 kph…

He’s referring to the possibility that a mission could fit between Chief witnessing the Infinity crash and his trek through the jungle, creating another, ninth mission.
I doubt 343 had anything planned for Chief at this part. It was just a long walk to reach the ship. Any Prometheans were focused on the immediate surrounding area of the ship, and the Covies were too. There probably wasn’t any conflict during his walk.
