The 2 voice actors of Prophet of Truth

Which voice actor did you really think fit the role of Prophet of Truth, and why?

Michael Wincott (Halo2), Terrance Stamp (Halo 3), or both?

Truth’s voice is much better in Halo 2. It sounds glassy, eerie, intelligent, ruthless, creepy, hypnotising, subtle, passionate, and wonderful. It’s just great to listen to. In Halo 3, however, Truth just sounds like a crazy old guy.

That’s true, but the reason why Michael Wincott didn’t return for Halo 3 is because he didn’t want to. :frowning:

Wincott was amazing as Truth in Halo 2. His speeches in High Charity were exceptionally well done. Although he does sound slightly more Alien in Halo 3.

This is a real toss up considering both voice actors are amazing!

I’m gonna have to go with both

Indeed!

I just looked at the full cast of voices here and I was amazed as to how many “high profile” voice talent they got!

Would be something I would like to see return for more Halo installments.

Wow, I didn’t know John Michael Higgins was 2401 Penitent Tangent, I knew most of the voices but didn’t know about 2401.

I know right!

I also found it funny that the voice of Gravemind (Dee Baker) was also the voice of Olmec from my favorite game show as a child, Legends of the Hidden Temple. realization, in fetal position…

Yeah, it’s cool when you find out stuff like this, like the time I found out who voiced the Joker, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

I wasn’t aware that Wincott did not want to reprise his role in Halo 3.

I guess Terence Stamp must’ve looked like a optimal choice on paper, but since he already had done a splendid job the year before as Mankar Camoran in TES IV: Oblivion I couldn’t personally shake of the impression that he was reprising the same persona he used in that particular title.

Don’t get me wrong. Even though I prefer Wincott’s interpretation of the Prophet of Truth I think Stamp performed impeccably. But given what I mentioned above, I sort of wish that Bungie would’ve chosen someone else to voice Truth.

It’s a -Yoink!- shame Tony Jay passed away. I think he would’ve made a great Truth.

Man, if Tony Jay (R.I.P.) were to voice Truth, that would’ve been great, I’d keep thinking of Megabyte from Reboot.

His voice in Halo 2 is way better in my opinion. In Halo 3 he seems like a different character, he isn’t as level-headed and cunning, he just seems like a deluded old man.
