The 1 weapon 343 got right in Infinite is the BR

The BR was designed to be competitive balanced. Even after the global melee nerf, 343 went back and made it not affect BR in Ranked and HCS. It still affects Social. BR has more magnetism aim assist. It’s geared towards consistency. Halo Infinite, unlike past games, is not designed for fun, it’s designed entirely around competitive and microtransactions, because this game is basically one giant advertisement. 343 doesn’t care if the rest of the game sucks, as long as the spotlight weapon shines in HCS tournament streams

lol what a bad take. Yeah it’s what we use the most but most comp players will tell you, “Most other guns are better.” - did you know in comp, the AR is considered better? It is.

What comp players are you talking to most say the BR is the go to weapon and they complain any time a weapon on the same tier is better. See the mangler which is now useless because of them.

How did 343 get the BR right??
They gave us a braindead laser with self resetting recoil, legit one of the most forgiving and easiest BR’s in the franchise.

Remove it’s recoil and make it projectile based.

I’m guessing people say it feels good because it makes them feel more skilled than they are due to its helpful recoil.

I would argue halo 2’s battle rifle is but i will say this infinite’s battle rifle is more balanced while also keeping that nice feeling of using it

Someone hasn’t played halo 2 back in its glory days lol

It’s a three-round burst laser beam with no spread. It’s probably one of the easiest to use BRs in a long time (at least since 2), which is why I friggin hate it.

Getting in a match of something like Launch Site or Behemoth and getting cross-mapped by a BR is frustrating. Sure, the AR has the advantage in close-range, but that doesn’t matter on wide-open maps when there are few venues by which to get to the enemy. It also sucks for SWAT, in my opinion, because it is way more forgiving.

It’s the issue I have with 343 balance, where they have weapons that are just too good and they don’t seem to understand weapon specialization. Granted Bungie had issues with this in Reach, but this game is going to turn into a long-range skeet shoot if the DMR ever gets reimplemented and it doesn’t share a spawn point with the BR.

The H2 BR didn’t reward headshots for bodyshots, ontop of having better maps to break up sightlines and button combos to add much needed skill to the combat loop.

Uh, yeah, because the Mangler was bar none the best weapon in the game pre-nerf. Post-nerf and it wasn’t even that MUCH of a nerf, players at my elo literally have an unspoken gentleman’s agreement to not use the thing because its primary function, two-shots-switch-to-BR-for-finish, is still completely untouched.

Yeah go figure, the most busted way to use it had NOTHING to do with its melee, that was just a cute bonus tbh.

Starting to think you don’t actually talk to or play with competitive players. Most acknowledge the BR is the best starting weapon but most weapons you can pick up are better. But of them all, the Mangler was - and is - still too damn good.

Stalker Rifle? OBJECTIVELY superior. People love it.
Sentinel Beam? Absolute monster, beats even the AR at close range.
AR? They do not like how it works for social but as a “Only one is on the map” pickup? It’s fantastic.
Sidekick? Objectively superior at close range but much harder to use.
Needler? Very little gets people into cover quicker - it can and will kill you if a skilled player is using it.
Shock Rifle? A fantastic skill/accuracy based sniper rifle. Short zoom makes it a really snug, snug fit for 4v4s. Well balanced weapon.
Bulldog and Heatwave? Absolute monsters that’ll beat everything but a hammer and sword up close, which is fine because they’re Tier 2, but the power weapons are Tier 3.
Disruptor? A bit of a meme choice in a 1-1 but has its uses.
Plasma Pistol has SOME use but not much, spike grenades are the best they’ve ever been but not fantastic, stickies are great, shock grenades are borderline overpowered since they’re so good at crowd control and slowdown + DoT, Pulse Carbine is completely non-viable.

And that’s all the weapons you see in comp that aren’t power weapon spawns. Which are of course good.

I really don’t think you actually know any competitive players.

Yes it did? The H2 BR didn’t necessarily kick as much but it did reward bodyshots with headshots.

I think most the sandbox turned out great tbh.
Best sentinel beam yet.
Sword and hammer rock now.
Cindershot is great.
Side kick and ar are awesome.
Bulldog is lots of fun.
Sniper just needs to lose the glare.
Shock rifle owns.
Stalker rifle is lots of fun.
Br is great. If a little brain dead.
PP is almost perfect.
Mangler is now fair and still as fun to use.
Ravager is fantastic.

Honestly my favorite weapon out of all the shock weapons i love trying to get headshots with it

I hate it! But I admire anyone who can make it work, lmao.

I love the shock rifle, the head shots are extremely satisfying.
The problem with it is that if you miss the head shot then you just tickle them a bit and they turn to melt you with their AR/BR laughing all the way.

I always saw it as a high risk for high reward weapon when used on spartans and not on vehicles

I skimmed.

BR is a great weapon. Literally great at every range and satisfactory at close range.

Exactly how it’s meant to be

Not through recoil but through red reticle, which every game had so it can’t really be counted. Compared to Infinite where the weapon actively encourages body shots to reward headshots.

Opposite
Nothing but DPS with no identity
Both suck and are shallow
Free kill machine with zero brain activity
Both are annoying to fight and are bad mechanically
Remove bloom
Remove EMP
Pointless weapon
Braindead and bad
Useless
Pointless
Garbage weapon

It actually does count because shows how powerful it is. Infinite has a good BR, but it’s not as broken as some of the “other” iterations this series has seen. Hell, even calling it broken is debatable.

You like comparing it to the BR55HB from Halo 3, but what about the one from Halo 4 and 5? 4’s was the true “laser” you like mentioning. 5’s didn’t really have a lot of reticle friction, but had a lot of magnetism pre-nerf.

This series has seen some pretty fearsome BRs. Infinite’s certainly has fierce competition when it comes to the strongest.
