That's it

I couldn’t be more dissapointed right now.

I’m tired of hearing people say “what do you need a visible ranking system for we’re getting skill based matchmaking” SO WHAT?!?!?! People are so worried about boosting, how about quitters? Those are the WORST! And without a visible rank they’re overflooding the multiplayer experience BUT WAIT NOW WE HAVE JOIN-IN-PROGRESS! That should be a whole other THREAD!

WHY THE HELL DO WE HAVE JOIN IN PROGRESS?!?!?!?! That just has anti-competitive written all over it. Let’s just keep joining and quitting until we end up on a winning team and let me guess, instead of having to search matchmaking again the entire lobby just waits for the next map to load up just like in COD? That would just top things off. Playing the same people over and over and over again.

I’m raging right now, i’m sorry but i just need vent. I grew up to halo and i’m so upset. I was so excited for Halo 4 until today.

I’m also tired about people talking about “competitive” and “casuals”. You guys have the wrong damn idea. EVERYBODY is competitive who the hell does anything in life and isn’t competitive?!!?! You cant sit down and tell me you like losing or not coming out on top and improving. “Casuals” to me are people like my friends who play video games here and there. But we all are hardcore halo fans and all of us want to win. Some just are mad because others are better. Get over yourself. In anything you do in life somebody will be better than you but you don’t need to cry because of it. If “Casuals” who play Griftball and FLOOD would have a ranking system and get a 50 in it I bet they would love the hell out of it. And honestly I wouldn’t even hate on them. Matter of fact, that’s what they should have expanded on, giving “casual” playlists like those a ranked option I bet those would’ve gotten intense as well and that way they could see where a “competitive” player is coming from. I wouldn’t want to take the fun out of anyone’s experience in halo but mine has officially decreased dramatically no matter how good the game play is. Literally it does not matter how good the gameplay is you can only play it for so long. I’m a college student who doesn’t have time to actually go to events and stuff and get the thrill out of close games with something at stake like I was used to be able to get from halo 2 and 3.

I’ve been telling my friends who all are the real casuals that halo 4 is coming out and they didn’t even know. Then they asked me if it’s gonna be anything like reach and I said well i guess kinda but it looks pretty awesome you have to give it a try. They’re response was “well all those armor abilities and crap was really gay in Reach” They also said that they loved to hop on halo 3 and 2 back in the day because the online play was so intense but it wasn’t like that in reach at all. They all play games like Fifa, COD, Assassins creed etc. and all of them want a ranking system. I’m sure you guys are just thinking that i’m a ranking system fanboy and am making this up but i’m serious. More people want a ranking system than you would think. The REAL casuals ALL want a ranking system.

Do you try harder playing basketball, studying for a test, working on a project etc. when there’s something at stake like money or a grade. Or does that no matter? (skill based matchmaking searching without visible rank arguement) Excactly. Just isn’t the same.

I’ll still be getting the game obviously because i love halo and im sure the campaign will be awesome. But CODBO2 has alot more to offer multiplayer wise.

Sorry for raging so hard again I probably haven’t made some points clear enough either, im just so annoyed right now. smh

umm… there there?

pats its gonna be ok buddy.

Recruit Iron with 1 ranting, raging post.

I concur!

Couldn’t agree with you anymore. They took the most important thing about the game, any game really, that being winning, and they turned into something second hand. Doesn’t matter if you win? Not my idea of a fun time.

in the live stream they announced you cant join in progress if theres less than a minute left in a match. so it wasnt just blindly thrown in to,uh, how’d you put it, “be like COD”. chin up bud, its gonna be a good game…i promise

So, what you are saying is. That in games without a visible ranking system you play to lose? Then you shouldn’t be playing at all.

I agree with you, no point in playing matchmaking if rank is visible, its only fun beating people for so long, if a reward isn’t offered.

You already have halo 3 or reach If you don’t like H4 play one of the other halos.

Thread 1200 again…

No that’s not what he’s saying but sadly enough A LOT of people give up way to fast. If there was a rank they’d stay in the game and try harder. Quitters are way more of a problem than ANY CONS the ranking system has ever brought. Now if somebody gets invited or by a friend lets say they wont hesitate a second to quit the game. Just isn’t fun to me i’m sorry. It might not matter in FFA style games but it does in team games. And you already know how I feel about join-in-progress…

We obviously want something fixed here…

> Thread 1200 again…

sorry didn’t mean to be that guy… I just feel that 343 needs to understand just how much of a game changer the ranking system is. The more people posting threads the more they’ll realize hopefully. I know it won’t change the game mechanics but like i said i’m not worried about that. The game looks like it’s gonna be awesome. Just no replayability. It’s like playing God of war or whatever, you can beat the game only so many times but don’t get me wrong, it’s still amazing

Even after all the threads about it. I still see no point in a visible true skill number next to your name. Only other people that care about yours would be people that only care about theirs. It’s just a number. It makes no difference if it’s visible or not. You’re still being matched against others close to your skill level.

And before anyone mentions Reach or how it failed. It didn’t fail because of no ranks. It was lacking in the gameplay, but I was still able to enjoy it and find matches easy enough… and the search was optimized to find quick matches, not using the true skill for the search. I’m sure 343 fixed that.

Buuuut if you still need that number next to your name. Just request it and I’ll add it for you. Free of charge so everyone can feel better.

I know that its something that you try to increase, something that you can progess towards as you win , but the whole reason the 1-50 TrueSkill system was made was to match players of similiar skill together to create more competitive and intense matches.

My question is, if you’re a “competitive” player, how come having competitive matches isnt enough for you?

Honestly I dont get what the point is with all these threads, its not like its going to change 343i minds. So…

Its more like people are just whinning for the sake of whinning the invisble rank was pretty much announced way before this. Besides we have waypoint to check our BPR if you can go on the forums to complain you can check that out as well.

Agreed OP, good read. I hope they realize just how crucial a ranking system is to Halo and add it not too late into the games life cycle. Don’t be so stubborn 343i, you are taking away one of the best parts of Halo away. Think of how easy it would be too add 1 PLAYLIST with this! Not very hard and it would please A LOT of people. It is not too late!
