This is it. I can’t take it anymore. I hate to rage on here, mostly because there is already so much hate on waypoint and in the community as it is, but my God. Has 343 done anything competent since taking the reigns of Halo? I mean, they completely ruined Halo 4 with their -Yoink- multiplayer and piss poor idea of having ordinance drops and focusing purely on casual players and newcomers to the series. They -Yoinked!- everyone with the abomination they call the MCC and pissed all over the Chief’s legacy and our fondest memories with that broken piece of trash and gave us a $5 updscaled ODST as “compensation” for ripping us off.
Then we come to Halo 5, and they completely -Yoink- casual players and focus 100% on competitive play and rank every single playlist with the exception of warzone (with only 3 -Yoinking!- maps, 1 of which I haven’t even played yet after several hours of playing the mode). not only that, they deliver the worst campaign in franchise history, throw out split screen, and then tell us BTB and other beloved playlists are coming post launch.
Well folks, BTB is finally here. Let’s look shall we? BTB is clearly an afterthought - a bone, as it were, that 343 is tossing the community after totally ignoring it in favor of Warzone. Let me tell you, it shows. When they said they were bringing in people from the Forge community to make the maps, I was concerned. In reality, there are no custom BTB maps in the game made by 343. Instead, we get Forge remakes from kids they didn’t have to pay to make them. The result? The maps are -Yoinking!- atrocious. Not only are they an absolute eye sore to look at, but they appear to be designed by kids that have never played Halo. Have you seen the amount of power weapons in play? My god, why even have a BR or DMR? Just post up in one of the 5 turrets that fires explosives.
This is the first of several content drops for Halo 5, and it’s a big swing and a miss. Stop making more -Yoinking!- armors and req items for your new slot machine system and give us maps that don’t look like Disney Infinity set pieces and bring social playlists along with more game modes for -Yoink- sake. This is just inexcusable. Please don’t make Halo 6. Just cancel it. I can’t bare what you are doing to my Halo any more.
We’re all just kinda making the best of a bad situation buddy, I’m trying to like halo 5…like really trying, these forge maps make me feel weird though, they honestly look worse than CE maps…
There are a lot of power weapons in the map? Sweet, I was worried there wouldn’t be a lot. And don’t worry, we will be getting social playlists sometime in the future. Maybe next year. Yeah I don’t like how BTB maps are Forge. To be honest, 343i hardly did anything that impressed me. Halo 5 was a letdown after playing the campaign.

After that awful campaign, I don’t have much faith in 343i’s story telling. I can wait for Halo 6.
Just so ya know social playlists are being added, the people who forged those maps are top forge makers (honestly would love to see you do better) and BTB has always been about the chaos and fun, also actually maps for BTB will be added in time
Unfortunately 343 is determined to make their mark on this series, even if they kill it. I wish Bungie would storm back and slap them all in the face. A lot of the Halo 5 multiplayer IS fun, and feels great especially after Halo 4. But they keep pushing their own vision at the expense of the multiplayer we all fell in love with years ago.

He doesn’t need to do better, he paid for better. Therefore, he paid for them to hire free labour and it shows.

At the very least Bungie should give them a basic tutorial on map design and mechanics. This update did nothing to fix the spawn kill system in SWAT. Somehow 343 thought by increasing spawn time from 1 to 3 seconds it would okay but nothing changed. You still spawn in the same traps and now you wait 2 seconds more in limbo before being killed.
But that’s 343’s philosophy: We don’t make things better, just different.

that isnt the issue, i dont mind change, i do mind 343i delivering second rate maps made by spotty teenagers for free.

Actually, they’re not top forgers. Just the ‘mostly heard by the community’ forgers. Just becuase you know a name like 343i, doesn’t mean they’re the best. I’m fairly confident that we, as a community, could make better maps (if only we had Forge to begin with). The main concern is why BTB was even made ranked and why we got an entire update the size of Fallout 3 of content when no progressive additions or fixes were made.
343i should poach the remaining members of Bungie who were responsible for MP. MS has enough money to do it. I suspect the egos there are enormous.
Just reading the comments so far, BTB doesn’t look promising.
