That Power Weapon Countdown Has to Go.

What do you think?

I disagree. You state no evidence why it should be removed. When it informs you 30 seconds before, people go to that area and fight over it, with the winner getting the power weapon. It makes people fight.

People are already fighting; all this system does is focus all the fighting in one specific area, leading to overly chaotic gameplay. In such cases, it is more often than not the luckiest player that will get the weapon. Furthermore, it just encourages players to camp by the spawn point of the weapon while holding X, as seen in ReadyUp Live’s gameplay. How exactly did that player earn the weapon over others who were doing the same?

I’m a fan of this solution for it to be honest. It lets newer players know when and where the power weapons are spawning, which is good, and nobody gets to complain about getting destroyed because they didn’t know where or when the power weapon was going to spawn.

At the same time, it negates the the problems of Halo 4’s ordinance of having the players position essentially broadcasted when they picked up the weapon, which is also good.

Functionally speaking, it’s no different than classic Halo. Teams who know the weapon spawns and spawn timers will be fighting over that position anyway in order to gain control of the area before the weapon spawns. This just lets the players who don’t know the spawns that a weapon is indeed coming in, which I fully support.

I’m okay with it when the annoucer says; ‘Power weapons in 30 seconds’. But after that, It gets repetitive.

“Sniper Rifle in 30 seconds”
“Power weapons in 30 seconds”
“Sniper Rifle in 10 Seconds”
“Power Weapons in 10 seconds”
“Sniper is up”
“Power weapons are up”

SHUT UP! GOD! I GET IT!

Just telling newer players that the Power Weapons will be avalible in 30 seconds is fine, But I don’t need to be reminded!

Was never big into power weapons, so no big deal. I have never seen an eSports oriented game inform players that some weapon is going to appear. In Q3A, you could hear someone getting a power-up and different powerups got different soumd cues. Maybe they can do something similar when someone gets a power weapon?

As JenguBlocku said, it is an okay idea, but they have gone completely over the top with it.

I would much prefer it just say “Sniper in 30 seconds…”. The other announcements don’t add anything extra, and 99.99% of people know how long 30 seconds lasts.

I also have to stress that this feature should only be for shared power weapon spawns. i.e those in the middle of maps. I don’t think the game should tell you when the other team are getting those kind of power weapons. e.g Base Snipers on the Pit. They need to leave some level of React/Adapt skill in the game…

Why is it so necessary to dumb the game down for newer players? Its not even like its that difficult in the first place. On average they respawn every minute 30 seconds so just watching the timer is more than enough. And how many times do you have to play a map before you memorize the important areas like where power ups spawn? I see this as no different than downloading a timer with all the countdowns for all the maps so I dont exactly mind but I would hope the reason for the timer was realism and immersion and less to do with making the game easier. I started playing halo in 2011 after I realized how bad COD was and I took the necessary steps to learn the game, it isn’t that hard.

I personally think it need less announcements of all sorts. would be nice to have medal audio announcements as an option all together, a simple flash is good for me as I will see my collection(or lack of) in the post game carnage report.

I can see how SOME could be helpful, but lets not make it a GPS–turn right in 1000 feet, turn right in 500 feet, turn right in 250 feet–one reminder should be enough.

that said, I am sure my turtle beach headset can isolate this channel and remove it for me

It should be like this:

Power weapons in 20 seconds…

…Power weapons available for acquisition

What do you guys think?

Being told the time until the power weapon spawns needs to be the end of it.

It should be the players responsibility to time those 20 seconds themselves, and get ready for the spawn. Announcing that the power weapon has spawned is redundant, and will get very annoying, especially for more experienced/skilled players.

I agree, it needs to be removed. Why? It’s a completely useless addition. Anybody who plays the game, even new players, will know that power weapons spawn on the map at a certain interval. They may not know what that interval is, and they may not care. If they do care, then they can simply learn the map by going into Forge and checking the spawn timers.

I mean, if 12 year-old me could figure it out 10 years ago, then I’m pretty certain that new players these days can figure it out as well. It feels like the game is just trying to hold our hands too much, which is what I really disliked about Halo 4. Let players make mistakes, let them learn how to think to win.

That is the crux of then Halo experience, we are supposed to fight in choke points.

I think it’s fresh and legit.

Yep.

I don’t mind the old “weapon drop.” The weapn counter is pointless seeing how he says “control power weapons to dominate the enemy team.” So yeah they could do away with the counter in my opinion.

That’s not a final feature. They said it would just be for Beta testing to see if they work.

You mean exactly how it was in previous Halo games? Surviving the grenade barrages in Camo Hall in The Pit was more often than not a chaotic -Yoink- survived by chance.

It is super helpful, but it can also get super annoying.

I’m really hoping that this a feature that can be turned on and off in your settings. Simply being able to choose not to hear the in-game callouts will be nice. Especially in tournament settings.

yes
and those not wanting to be in the middle of the chaos might be better served shooting into the area from the outside

I hope they don’t do that… one announcement should suffice
