That moment when...

That moment when you hit your right bumper to melee and nothing happens. The problem is, I can’t tell if it’s my bumper sporadically not working or lag lol. Anybody else experience this in H5? Am I missing something?

Not happening to me. Is your controller old?

I’d try another controller for a bit, the last one I replaced was for a bumper going wonky.

Maybe, it’s an elite controller, so it wouldn’t surprise me, but I’m also on super laggy servers most of the time, for example, in super fiesta It’s not uncommon to pull the trigger and have nothing happen for about half a second. The bumper seems to work when in the menus, and in other games. I’ll have to take your suggestion, Comedic, and try a different controller

I regularly seem to not get a last-minute grenade off before I die…but I blame the game because it can’t be my fault, right?

Seriously though, I would play some campaign and see how frequently the bumper doesn’t register there. If it’s still happening with the same frequency, it’s probably the controller. If it works fine, then it could be lag. I haven’t really encountered melee’s not working/registering.

Check with a different game. It might be timing. There’s times I swear I punched someone in the face but I was doing something else so it canceled out. Could be that

The bumpers on my controllers seem to fail regularly. They get to where I have to squeeze them with unnecessary force to get them to work.

this had happen to me, but with my x360 control, turns out strawberry jam in it.lol
i think is the control, lag usually just turn my spartan into a jumping forerunner soldier

Yes, first assumption would be your controller may be wearing out. Plus, even if you execute the melee in-game, there is potential for it to become a ghost melee (which will not register any damage).

Are you cleaning your controller regularly? I had the same problem once and thought my controller was broken, but it turns out after disassembling it that there was so much dust and other nasty stuff in there that the bumper actually jammed. It worked fine again after I cleaned it thoroughly. Might help.
It definitely is not a lag

Yeah it’s just your controller I had an issue similar to that about a year back and eventually my right bumper just fell off lol.

This^^^ happens to me a lot I have way to many ghost melee but I’ve never had a problem with my bumpers although I’ve had it with the triggers where they just wouldn’t shoot I thought it was lag

Thanks for the input, I took a closer look at my controller, I can wiggle the bumpers around quite a bit more than my standard controller, and the right bumper feels more loose than the left. I suspect you are all correct. I ordered new ones this morning. I think when I’m playing arena, I must be hitting the RB differently than I do in any other game/task, and because it’s worn out, it doesn’t always work.

That moment when you unintentionally hit your bumper and you end up reloading in the middle of a gunfight. I’ll gladly take a bumper that’s a little worn over one that’s super sensitive. My current one is really sensitive and it’s annoying.

My old controller was similar to yours, but not as bad. I had to press down on it hard in order for it to work.

I’m using Helljumper with my Left trigger and right-thumbstick-click swapped in button mapping. At first I lost a lot of gunfights because grenade throw is on the RTC so randomly in the middle of a super sweaty one on one, I accidentally click and throw a grenade. I’ve gotten better at not doing that, although it still happens from time to time. You’ll get used to it, try shifting how you hold your controller a bit.

The only thing that ever breaks on my xbox 1 controllers is the bumpers. So I googled how to take apart an Xbox one controller and got step by step instructions. I picked up a screw driver with a t8h or t8 security bit (the one with the hole in it) from home depot. Fixed two controllers with just some guerilla glue lying around the house. The screw driver cost me $16 cuz i had to buy one that came with 32 different bits. It was the only one that had a t8h. U can probably find it cheaper online

Yes, sometimes mine will not shoot like on random bullet, which is big in a gunfight. Also, the Xbox One bumpers for their controller seem to be lower quality, which makes enjouing the H5 experience harder when the controller bumpers wear out so fast.

Lag shouldn’t affect if your inputs go through or not, more than likely it is your controller.

Switch to bumper, problem solved. But then your bumpers get worn out. So buy a new controller.

maybe your bumper was loose
