That Good Map Feeling

Remember when you used to see maps like Guardian, Construct and the Pit in the loading screen and you was already excited to get in the game and play?

Not sure about anyone else but currently… none of the maps on Halo 5 Arena give me that feeling…?

I just feel the maps have changed in a way that i cant describe. Obviously more maps will be released in the future in which i have hope for but as for the current maps I just feel like ‘oh this map again’. I don’t feel there are any overpowering maps that i dont mind playing repetitively.

does anyone else feel the same?

I agree, all maps are kinda grayish indoor areas, it really bores me.

Truth and Fathom give me the feeling.

But to each his own.

Dunno about the maps you listed but Damnation, Chill Out, and Prisoner were the GOAT.

“Greatest of all time”? Is that what GOAT means?

BTW, he listed Halo 3 maps. Which I agree with. They are probably the most recognized maps out there (Besides Blood Gulch and Beaver Creek).

I really want to see some classic maps with a halo 5 twist (more mantle paths etc)

I know what you mean. They fail to capture the essence of Halo.

They went for a more COD type vibe, with more corners, more small rooms interwined in a maze like structure. The textures are uninteresting and the atmospheres are set in an industrial warehouse type setting in damn near all of them. They ACTUALLY built the maps around the new game mechanics INSTEAD of building them around balance, playability, and teamwork…

Theres only 3 decent symmetrical maps and even those are bottom of the barrel compared to previous halo games. I CANT Believe they had the audacity to advertise 12 maps and have 5 of them unbalanced and seemingly untested FORGE maps.

Not only is the design team at 343 bad at creating maps with their own tools, but they are atrocious at creating balanced maps within forge as well.
It’s a step backwards from H4 which ultimately is a step backwards from anything bungie ever produced. (I’d take Haven over any map in h5 anyday)

Except Orion, which everyone seemed to hate.

yeah, truth and regret feel good to me, but maps like fathom, Colosseum, plaza, and most of the other maps just don’t feel like like GOOD maps, they’re alright, but not good. Colosseum feels too open, you can easily get shot from across the map and you don’t know where you’re getting shot from. Other halo maps I felt like I knew where I was getting shot from and they were simple to remember. I feel like there’s too much vertical fights, one team can sit at the top and spawn kill and snipe people from that one spot. The breakout maps feel okay, there’s enough cover and they’re relatively flat. That one team sits there and holds that point and spams grenades like the spire on warzone and sniper spawn in Colosseum. I hope they bring back some more classic maps for arena.

Yeah i completely agree with you about them making the maps more like cod maps… with more rooms and more objects to climb on…

its like ‘look we have put clamber in the game, lets give you loads of unnecessary thing to climb on and lose trades during clamber animation’ lol… its a shame
