JJ Abrams is a hack. Dude just uses his “Mystery box” for everything, hasn’t had a good original idea of his own.
So the guy has a philosophy on how he makes his movies… and you are mad that it has both given us some pretty great movies with a few lack-luster titles sprinkled here and there and made him rich?

quite debatable, but out of the entire sequels trilogy The Last Jedi was my favourite. Not a lot of Lightsaber action in that movie that I could recall though. Out of all 9 movies?No, not the best. Probably a 5-7 on my list.

Lucas had plans for a way, way worse story that took place entirely on one planet and was all about the force and, wouldn’t you know, entirely new characters.

Really? From what I’ve seen/heard Lucas didn’t even want to make anymore sequels. He said that the story was about Anakin Skywalker and that story practically ended when Anakin died as Vader in the sixth film.
They COULD have used “Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy” as source material for Episode VII, as in the old canon it was considered to be Episode VII and had you play as one of the new padawans of Luke’s new Jedi Order and go through your own adventure.

Haha oh my Gods look okay I like that game but the story is crap.
I think at least some of the games are good enough to get their own movies. like fallen order would be a amazing movie in my opinion especially for those fans who don’t play the games. done right id think people would eat it up those movies like crazy.
Sure yeah, but Fallen Order is post 2014 and thus canon, doesn’t need a movie. Anything pre-2014 wasn’t and isn’t canon. But Fallen Order was written to a particular standard.

You take the synopsis of the game and use it as a writing prompt.
“Nobody Jedi who becomes really powerful really quickly has to stop someone their master spared the last time they fought, from sucking force energy into a staff to resurrect a force ghost that threatens to take over the galaxy.”
man I just hope that protagonist doesn’t happen to be a chick or otherwise a bunch of manlets are gonna’ think she’s too powerful.
Take away the “players need to have powerfantasy” aspect and yeah. You got a story of a padawan fixing the mistakes of his or her master, learning from the master’s teachings and stopping some Big evil from coming back.
BUT this time the evil comes back and BOOM you have potential for a trilogy in which you hunt down the new Sith Lord and put a stop to their plans.
Source Material with some tweaks makes for some basic plot dynamics and setup for a three-part story. All that would be left would be brainstorming for filler that lets the story not feel too brief yet not too stuffed and full of excess.

but as someone who was in both flights, the biggest difference between then and now is… there’s just new game modes and events. with the first one, there was a lot of prefacing that the build was months old at that point- and with how much it barely changed to launch… it’s not that great.
it’s been over a year now since the first flight’s build (NOT OCCURANCE, build), and there’s really no indicator to me that a year of development has passed. sure, maybe a few months, but absolutely not a year. that’s why people are upset.
