That Dubstep-Type Music

The original post is below. I’ve edited the topic because a mini flame war started. If you want to discuss why you think the music should or should not be in that’s fine, just don’t attack people and their opinions.

The original point of this thread was to convey that I didn’t think dubstep belonged in the trailer.

Okay, so I sign into XBL today and see a little panel called “Halo 4 Video.” Not thinking anything of it I just clicked on the panel and a video started playing.

The first thing I noticed was the atrocious video quality XBL is famous for. I then noticed this was a new video and continued watching.

A song started playing and I thought it was okay, just not very good and then my ears get attacked by “wub wub hippity dippity dub dub.” -.-

Please don’t start using dubstep, it’s really terrible and hard on the ears. It was also so loud I couldn’t hear the actual gameplay over it and I just had to mute my TV.

A small complaint, but a lot of people really dislike dubstep (myself included). If you absolutely have to advertise your game with popular songs stick to American rock bands like the other Halo games.

Anyway, complaints aside the Saw looks pretty cool. Not sure what role it will fill. Looks a bit overpowered.

> This is not a dubstep hate thread, it just doesn’t fit with Halo.

I hate that people call dubstep music.

I agree the SAW looks great. Many threads about it.

I usually don’t like these types of threads, but I kind of agree. Halo has a legendary soundtrack. It’d be nice if they’d pull from that instead of whatever that was. :S

They should have played…

This may interest you.

Also, I say stick to that music or Halo 4 soundtrack, it’s fine. Why do you feel the need to complain about the choice of music in a small video showing off UNSC weapons when there’s a version without music and all?

I don’t want it to turn into a dubstep hate thread, it’s just to a lot of people dubstep is really offensive to the ears. It doesn’t really fit with Halo anyway.

I’m not, just stating my opinion. It really doesn’t feel like Halo though, like you said.

I also thought it sounded OK until all the wub wub BS. But I dont want them to use rock bands either. WHY not just stick to the Halo themed music?

BTW the SAW is a power weapon, so of course its overpowered.

I know there’s another video, it’s just like advertising Halo with polka music; it doesn’t fit.

As I said it’s a small complaint, and I really shouldn’t have to go digging just so my ears don’t get violated with noise.

343i! Don’t give in to modern popular rubbish! Continue the Halo tradition of using real music! D:

No other song would’ve fit in there. I thought it was great and great music to include with fast paced Halo combat.

Thankfully that nonsense won’t be on the OST. But I was still shocked that 343 would actually associate Halo with that stuff. Honestly, the franchise deserves much better than that. I’m disappointed in them for going that route.

Think of it like a montage. People choose all sorts of different music for montages. 343 just happened to pick dubstep for this one.

A lot of songs would’ve fit in there. They could have used any of the several pieces that they are paying Neil Davidge to create. -.-

They’re not ready to reveal any more of the Halo 4 soundtrack yet.

I loved the Dubstep. however, I do also agree, it isn’t very Halo fitting.

I agree fully with teh OP, the music used had no place in the video, it didn’t feel epic or somewhat serious/cool like previous Halo videos. It felt more like a try to prove “hey, Halo is like the new game on the block, dubstep is so cool, eat that CoD”.
Cheap and over used

Now, where is that new Halo 4 weapons trailer with Opera, that would be great, don’t you think?

They’ve already revealed a lot of it. Why not use some that they already have? Your argument doesn’t make sense.

Ok, While I agree that dubstep doesn’t fit with the entirety of the Halo Franchise, I do feel that it fits the trailer quite well. Aside from just showcasing the human weapons for multiplayer, they were also showing how much more fast paced multiplayer will be. And with fast paced gameplay, you need fast paced music. And trust me, the song wasn’t that bad. They could have made a worse choice.

bs angel confirmed in the bulletin that the “music” in the UNSC Weapons trailer was not a part of Halo 4’s soundtrack. They’ll explain where its from in time.

But I agree, it wouldn’t fit Halo.

But so far, the other music released seems like it can fit well with the gameplay and style, and I think I’ll like it.
