Thanks for no pre-download!

Thanks for not letting us download in advance and not even letting us download automatically by locking the campaign download inside an in-game menu! Launching the download in the middle of the day while everyone was at work was a genius idea too! Now for the first Halo release ever I can’t play campaign on launch day cause I got stuck starting my download on my crappy internet at 6:00pm.

Bravo 343, you continue to disappoint.

Yeah I had 2 free months of gamepass but it just proved to be insufferable so I bit the bullet and bought campaign.

Seriously. Came home from work, already knowing there was no pre-load.

Discover the game has been downloading 9gb patches today?

Launch gamepass infinite, first time claims I don’t own the campaign and should buy it.

I relaunch the game.

This time gives me the option to download the campaign.

I tell it to download the campaign.

It also tries to download the HD pack, which I don’t want, as I don’t have a 4k monitor. I tell it to not download the HD pack but apparently it wont let me?

Xbox then reports there’s an error, and I need to reboot.

I reboot. Now it claims the game isn’t installed.

I tell it to install. It directs me to some other microsoft app place, specifically to “Microsoft Game Service”. I’m guessing something broke? No download for game service. I search for infinite in that app and it just redirects me to the Xbox app which directs me to microsoft app.

Gave up and bought their stupid campaign on steam.

I had a similar set of problems, but I was just trying to download from game pass (I gave up and let it install the texture pack). See I was going to purchase on Steam because of the similar terrible experience I had with MCC. Seriously, that whole Xbox and Microsoft store ecosystem is garbage. I ultimately decided against purchasing the campaign though because I figured after what they pulled with the multiplayer they don’t deserve a penny from me.

Yepp… I woke up at 5am just to start the download and go back to sleep.

Too bad for me I chose to use steam which apparently won’t acknowledge if you have gamepass and will stop you from playing with a ‘purchase to play’… so now I’m being forced to reinstall the whole bloody thing on an xbox app I barely use because I enjoy having all my games in 1 launcher

I originally had it on the xbox app but moved to steam after their dodgy app took my battlepass purchase and didn’t even put it on my xbox account so I had to buy it twice… No refund button for microtransactions just fyi. Oh and it randomly stopped launching the game and would give me an error message that required to reinstall the whole game… no verify game files option like steam.

I’m now being forced to move back to that app to play the campaign because I too won’t be giving 343/Microsoft another cent until they do something about how laughable the current state of things are.
