It’s been a true pleasure spending the last year getting hyped for this game with you guys. I’ve met many interesting, passionate, and dedicated people during my time here and it’s been a joy waiting this very long line with all of you.
From the seven months of no information lasting from August '11 to March '12 to posting threads about how amazing the E3 demo was, it’s been quite the wait.
In all honesty, getting hyped for games like this is priceless. I know it’s all going to pay off in the end. It will pay off in the end. The five year wait has almost ended. And i’ve waited so long to say that.
Thank you 343 Industries for taking the amazing things Bungie has accomplished with the franchise and taking it to the next level. You’ve done what few other developers could accomplish. You took risks and for that, you shall be rewarded with the loyalty and respect of an enormous community of fans. And teh moneyz
Yeah, it’s been quite the wait, what with hype building and the community tearing itself apart. This has really been a… unique experience. But we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, the game is days away from release, and it’s really been an honor to pass the time holding conversations with some of you, and speculating and debating with others. Whether you’ve been here from the beginning, or have just joined the forums or even the series recently, thanks for making these forums interesting and keeping the rest of us company in waiting for this game.

Oh. My. God. Those seven months with no information were just awful lol. I was scrambling to find information… 343i did an awesome job keeping things secretive. The E3 demo blew me away, I do recall even jumping a bit when the promethian knight shrieked at chief. Chills.
Five years for a video game is the longest wait I’ve ever endured and Im so ready for it to end.
Bring on Halo 4.

I remember religiously searching Halo 4 on Google hoping for something of interest to appear. Good times.
It has been a long time, but I can honestly say the new features look amazing. Yeah, its not completely the original Halo we started with, but after ten years of existence, the fact that people are complaining means people still care. lol, why else would people being trolling so hard if not for the fact that they see Halo as awesome or a threat?
I wholeheartedly agree. Though the pessimism towards the game by some has gotten to me at times, I feel like this wait brought the Halo community together again. We’ve been lying in disarray for years, waiting for something to unite us and return us to our former glory.
That August to March was truly, TRULY painful, but now that we’re past it I’m proud to say we survived. I remember the rush I elt seeing those first two screenshots of Master Chief, one with a purple background and one with a desert background. They are still my favorite screenshots. And yes, that E3 demo was awesome!
343 made the right decision in not revealing nearly as much as Bungie did before launch. I always thought that was one of Bungie’s weak spots, how much they showed of the game before its release.
So Spartans, it has been a long wait here on the forums, but we wouldn’t have been able to do it without each other. Tackling every detail we could and analyzing it in serious depth, it was impressive to watch us go. I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield.
Let’s just do our best not to peek too much in these last few days.
I still can’t believe how close we are after all this time. It’s crazy how much my perspective on this game has changed. It’s become so much more than I ever thought it would be, and for that I am truly grateful to 343 for bringing halo back, and bringing it forward.
> HOLY HELL IN A HAND BASKET! a thread that isn’t about rank. But yes i agree i have insomnia and the fact that halo 4 is 5 days away isn’t helping.
I don’t understand the uproar over ranks. Honestly, ranks don’t matter to me. What does matter is who is sitting at the top of a match’s leaderboard because in the end, they’re the better player.
It’s getting ridiculous. Game’s about to launch and people still can’t think of anything better to do than whine over something so insignificant.
As long as the game’s fun and enjoyable, all is well in the galaxy.
Can’t wait to save the galaxy again. To the Chief and to 343!
I look forward to seeing all of you on the training grounds.
We run forward into battle shouting out Axios!

And proceeding to get shot in the chest by a paintball.
Can we take a moment to step back and think about what 343 Industries has done here?
They were given one of the greatest franchises in history, and the expectations for them were set at a mind-boggling level. Somehow, in spite of the complaints, muttering, and lack of faith from casual and competitive gamers alike, they managed to not just meet those expectations but go far beyond them.
They listened to everything we said; anyone who’s listened to their Sparkasts realizes it. They really care about the community, as evidenced by how hard they’ve tried to include MLG, et cetera, despite the competitive community being a minority (albeit a very vocal one). The fact that Frankie and others take time to respond to the vitriol on NeoGAF is astounding sometimes.
Then there’s Halo 4 itself. A whole new story for the Campaign. Forward Unto Dawn. A completely revamped multiplayer system that still has full customizability for classic-style games. Spartan Ops. New Forge with great new features and graphics. Three guaranteed map packs.
It couldn’t be more clear: it’s not about money for them. It’s about Halo.
If anyone from 343 is reading this, I want to thank you for pouring your heart and soul into this. I’m not a suck-up, and I’ll admit that there are some things currently in Halo 4 I’m personally not pleased with (lack of visible ranking, in particular), but you’ve done something absolutely phenomenal. Thank you.

I don’t understand it either. All that should matter is being matched up against players of similar skill. All i know is I’m going to avoid the forums for a month atleast after halo 4 is out. ya know lett all the BS -Yoinking!- calm down before i get back.

HAHAHAHA YES!! In fact, by doing that during work, I found Halo Waypoint forums lol. Lurked on them for two months before I started posting.
I remember things like the Game Informer leaks where even optimistic people like myself became hopeless lol. Watching live stream panels, E3, and even community playdates has really excited me for H4 and made the wait even better.

I’d imagine your moment of return being like the moment you first emerge from Vault 101. Without the super mutants though. Hopefully.
Thanks for the great thread OP.
I’m still pretty new around here on the forums, but have been playing since the old days of CE in 2001. Halo 4 is looking like an exceptional addition to the series.
Hopefully see a bunch of you on the Infinity, and I’ll try not to put the flag pole through you too many times.

If my experiences of returning are anything like my experiences of leaving vault 101 then ill always carry a gun under my pillow.
