Thanks for changing the progression system

So glad to hear that we will finally be getting match XP and not forced into playlists we don’t like. Thank you!

It’s a great change. I’m still hoping this is the first step to having more uses for XP than just season passes.

Glad it’s coming finally, will be interesting to see how they do the career system when that comes, hope it’s similar to mcc, was always satisfying to rank up

It’s a good step, but i am not statisfied yet (for what i have seen so far). It’s still just to dependend on your position on the list of players and not your actual performance.

For instance if you have this in team slayer:
winning team (kill-death-assist):
player A: 30 - 10 - 5
player B: 8-16-4
player C: 7-5-6
player D: 6-14-4

player B would get 50XP for being in the top 50% of the team (score of 1050) and player C (score of 1000) would get nothing for his performance, even though their scores are very close. His performance was even more important for the win since he didn’t gave away that much kills and was involved in getting more enemies killed (13 vs 12).

Is it therefore realy fair that player B gets 50 XP where player C gets 0?

Or what about an oddball match, where the team clearly lost:
player A: 0-15-0 (held the ball for 15 seconds)
player B: 1-12-4 (held the ball for 8 seconds)
player C: 12-11-3 (held the ball for 7 seconds)
player D: 8-12-1 (held the ball for 4 seconds)

players C en D clearly where the reason why A and B could hold the ball for a very short moment. Yet A and B get 50 XP for being the top half of the team, even though C and D where having to do all the work, since A and B were not able to win fights… This because the list in Oddball is based on how long you have touched the ball (if i’m not mistaken).

I think they should just make it a bit more like in MCC where you just get extra XP for kills, assists and objectives

For instance like this:
50 XP bonus for being in the winning team
100 XP max bonus for performance (with a minimum of 0 XP), earned with for instance:

  • 10 XP per kill
  • 5 XP per assist
  • 5 XP deduction per death
  • 1 XP per second holding the ball (oddball) or for staying in the hill (if classic KOTH returns)
  • 10XP for a flag capture
  • 5 XP for a flag carrier killed or for returning your flag
  • 5 XP for capturing a zone (strongholds, KOTH)
  • 5 XP for securing a power seed
  • 10XP for stealing a power seed.

Did they say how “top 50% of team” will be determined? Will it be based on match score like the example you used here or will it be based on K/D? I guess it could change depending on the mode.

If i’m correct it’s matchscore on slayer type matches and objective ‘score’ (number of seconds holding the ball, number of flags capped, etc.) in objective type matches.

I haven’t evaluated the details as well as you have but your points seem legit. Again, I don’t expect the new system to be perfect, just happy it’s moving in the right direction.
