I just wanted to express how thankful I am for the controller customization options in this game, especially being able to map the buttons however you’d like.
I have always preferred bumper jumping for jumping control, but all the other buttons that were re-mapped did not feel natural to me, like reloading with B. So in past games I never felt like I had the perfect control scheme for myself. But now with Infinite, I haven’t felt so comfortable and in control in a Halo game, and with that more immersed.
Here is my controller set up if you’d like to try it yourself…
Jump- LB
Crouch-B
Sprint-Left Thumbstick
Fire- RT
Equipment-A
Melee- RB
Grenade-LT
Reload-X
Switch W-Y
Zoom- Right Thumbstick

That’s a feature I love as well. I’m just like you, I like bumper jumper, but I think it could use some Improvements. Here’s my setting.
RT: fire
RB: equipment
RS: zoom
LT: grenade
LB: jump
LS: crouch
A: sprint
B: melee
X: reload
Y: switch weapon

Definitely a great feature. Xbox natively has a button mapping app that I’d use with MCC, but the changes persisted in menus making them difficult to navigate.
My buttons are mapped like Halo 5, with equipment in B. It’s not ideal, honestly. Id be comfortable with any classic arrangement as well, but I’m just used to that Halo 5 layout atm.

I have elite controller I dont understand why the paddles at the back of the controller are not as unique buttons
I was hoping to get more actions and not just duplicate buttons…
I am basically happy with basic controls scheme I use now, but I dont have a good place to put marking button… its on D pad and it is so bad to use when in combat.
It would be awesome if MS made those paddles as unique buttons and not clones of the basic 4…

I was not aware of the Xbox app, thank you, will try this with MCC so I can easily go back and forth between games with similar control schemes. I recently just got a series s, first time back in the Xbox ecosystem since halo 5 and the OG Xbox One lol. Been playing MCC on PC since. But it feels good to be back on controller playing on the TV like the good ol days!
That would be an unfair advantage, wouldn’t it?
I forget what the app is called, but the logo is a white joystick on a green background. I think it’s something like Xbox Peripherals or Accessories.

Yes. This was a fantastic addition to Halo. I wish they’d add this to the MCC and H5 as well.

Yes!! Even though I’m not sure how much more support or updates these games will be getting, it would be great to get button remapping in MCC and H5
Depends on how you look at it.
Elite 2 with those padles is already unfair compared to standard controller. Adding more buttons should be a standard to enhance options in game controlls.
I remapped the paddles to the stick actions. Zooming with a right stick click often bumped my aim off so I had almost an immediate improvement to my sniping.
My wife was originally ripped off “Boxer” control scheme no longer existed so we just made it in custom.
