I just read the bulletin and wanted to thank 343i for some of the improvements to JIP - particularly that once the game is half over, JIP is disallowed. That is quite excellent.
The only potential drawback is that games - once lopsided - may remain completely lopsided, especially if some teammates quit leaving you holding the bag. If 343i could consider a “Resign” option that appears next to “Leave Game” on the in-game menu, I think that would mitigate this problem.
Resign would work by registering a player’s vote to end the game. The player would still have to play until a certain number of his teammates also opt to resign, at which point the game would end. This reduces the excuses to quit (hopefully preventing some quits), lets the game end in a controlled fashion, and doesn’t require the one or two remaining players to deal with 10 minutes of utter domination.
However, overall, I am quite happy with the JIP update!
Also, I liked some of the weapons tuning proposals. Specifically, reducing the RRR for the DMR and slightly increasing the LR RoF are good. The changes to the automatics - making them require more accurate aiming as a tradeoff for the buff - are also good, IMO.
So thanks!
It’s a great update for sure!
They said tweaks are in the works for:
-Decreased DMR RRR
-Increased LR ROF
-Decreased BR kill time
-Decreased AR kill time
And including last weeks planned tweaks:
-Decreased Carbine kill time
-Warthog chain gun buff
All totally awesome!
That and a much decreased JIP window is cool too. Like no further than the half point in team slayer and after the first couple kills in FFA
FINALLY!
Thanks again 343i
This fix won’t do anything for CTF. All the JiP CTF games I join are still in the first half.
They should have made the JiP score based for CTF. Instead, they just completely ignored it. I wonder if they test their game at all? If they played CTF they would know it is quite common to join a game down 3-0 with 13 mins left and quite rare to join a game that is 4-0 with one minute left. If a team is short, the other team is clearly going to end the game before 7 minutes and 30 seconds.

I wish there was an option like this.
There are always those games where you end up against some uber pro team that’s utterly dominating you, and you don’t want to quit because of the negative consequences, but also don’t want to get shot in the face every five seconds.
If this was in every shooter, I’d love it.
Eh at least the games you do JiP on now can be still won even if the winning team is still up by a margin. Don’t know about CTF in general but I have JiP on a losing lightning flag and been able to turn it around.

I agree that the extended time is nice in order to make a comeback. All I’m saying is it’s much more rare to join a game in CTF where your team is shorthanded, down in score, and more than half of the time has run off the game clock.
I’d say 95% of the JiP games I’ve played in CTF have been in the first half of the game with my team already at a deficit. 5% of the games I join are almost done and my team is down.
I usually complain about what they do but this is good. They’re having to basically turning Halo back into a competitive game little by little. Keep this up 343I and I’ll start liking you all more.

I agree. Little by little they are making the game better. I am certainly ready for them to get the update going.

Our bodies are ready.
