Anyone else think that the High Noon gameplay was just simply amazing? They made us start with only one grenade (like we asked), decreased the melee’s power (like we asked), brought back the CE pistol (also like we asked), buffed up the AR (again, like we asked), and a whole bunch of other stuff that’s just great! Only problem is the jump height, though… Lol :stuck_out_tongue:

From what I could tell they also removed movement acceleration which is great, but I really feel that they should remove the “bloom” from the pistol, even if it’s just a visual representation of the rate of fire and has no real effect on gameplay. And yes the jump height really needs to be fixed, CE jump height is even higher than default reach and from what I could tell the settings in that gametype were either 90% jump height with 150% gravity or 100% jump height with 200% gravity, which is just terrible. Needs to be 115% jump height with 85-90% gravity, something that can’t be achieved through the in-game settings.

Magnum definitely has bloom in that video. That defeats the WHOLE PURPOSE of a classic playlist. What’s the point of having a 3sk Magnum if the gun can’t be used past medium/short range thanks to the bloom. The ROF needs to be slowed and the bloom needs to be zero.

Really? I think it’s actually pretty cool. Also, bloom IS still there in the pistol, but in a form that replicates the weapon spread from Halo: CE.

Pistol had no bloom in Halo: CE unless you held down the trigger for automatic fire. You could pull the trigger as fast as humanly possible and there was no bloom. What we see in the video isn’t even close to that.

(edit: when I say “bloom” I am directly referring to the increased inaccuracy of the bullet trajectories while pulling the trigger as fast as possible)

I’m afraid I’m going to have to disagree with that. Zero Bloom pistol is TOO overpowered. It would just be a pistol spam fest if there were no bloom. The current bloom setting forces you to AIM and PACE your shots, which makes it require a bit of skill to kill people with the weapon. It isn’t Reach bloom, either. It is a perfectly moderate setting IMO. I hope it stays the way it is.

Zero Bloom pistol doesn’t work with Reach like it does in CE. Things are just not balanced with it.

A zero bloom 3 sk pistol is exactly what existed in Halo: CE. 343 has stated this whole classic playlist/settings thing is supposed to replicate Halo: CE MP as best as possible. Having the pistol be anything but 3sk and zero bloom negates this, period.

bloom, no bloom i really REALLY dont care if a weapon has bloom or not as long as it looks good and kills your opponent im happy.

I must have missed it but did they detail the setting of CE style gametypes? The AR certainly looked more powerful but I did not know it was confirmed. Is this true of other weapons too? Like Plasma Rifle, Pistol, needler?

As for the movement speed it looked good and jump height looks spot on for CE, I don’t get the bloom on the pistol though. I don’t know it it is just a FOV thing but wasn’t the M6D reticule bigger than the unbloomed MGG one? So I guess some bloom might actually make for a more legitamate M6D reticule than zero bloom.

But I don’t know I will have to play with it myself to see.

In CE, the pistol was not hitscan. Also, players had faster movespeed and higher jumps. All of the other weapons except for the needler were very powerful (for example, stun on Plasma rifle, 1SK with shotty, etc.). Also the grenades were far more powerful.

CE was a perfectly balanced game. Introducing a 3sk pistol into what is essentially Reach, is not balanced.

I’m really not sure what to say to that. Hitscan or not, LAN CE the pistol was lazer accurate across the map. Grenades in Reach are far more powerful than Halo 2 or 3, are they 100% as powerful as CE grenades? Maybe not, but they’re alot closer than the past two Halo games, which is fine with me. Regardless, there would be absolutely no point in trying to develop a “classic” playlist where the weapons act completely different than they did in past games, the biggest example being bloom. I would rather have a 4sk ZB magnum than what I see in that video. Speed and jump height settings can be easily modified and of course I would hope that they are set closer to what CE and 2 had than what we have in Reach and I suspect that will in fact be the case (at least, I certainly hope so). However, if there is any bloom…if that magnum cannot accurately hit someone across the map pulling the trigger as fast as possible then you are not playing a “classic” ANYTHING.

I think the reason that 343 is so dedicated and involved with the community is that they are ALL giant halo fans.
They wanted to join 343 primarily because of that halo passion.

It really does look amazing. Can’t wait for this game. Love the AR buff. On the topic of the jump height though, in Halo CE you didn’t jump that high it was just a bit floaty so you jumped further rather than higher. Running speed that got pretty accurately.

Yeah and to add on to that, some of the employees are pretty good at the games. It’s good to know that behind the curtain, there are people who understand the game mechanics and kick -Yoink- using them (though MLG god tier warriors they are not).
