THANK YOU 343! You listened to our request!!! :D

THANK you SOOOo much 343… You finally fixed the dedicated servers for regions like Australia and New Zealand. We can now find warzone assault, ffa, breakout, btb and MUCH faster game search times for the rest!!! I can now finally play some ffa after only playing it during the first few days of launch since you cant be in a fireteam to play ffa with people from other countries…

I’m not from the regions you described, but I’m still happy that more players are able to play Halo 5 to a fuller extent. Nice job 343.

Yippee

its not all good though. Now everyone game is laggy and even if you don’t understand lag properly and don’t notice it it is still significantly affecting how you play. In playlists like war zone and team arena where you could find games in without lag you will now lag. They need server selector soon.

is it a bit laggy? Im only asking because im from the u.k and mostly its fine however sometimes a guy started to kill me by lag literally!

Well it’s unlikely that an Oceania player would be matched with someone from the UK. Logic suggests we’ll be placed on West US server farms as it would be the only playable latency for us and I have only heard American accents over the headset so far.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and hazard a guess the extremely high latency everyone is complaining about is more related to Microsoft’s server woes than region lock being lifted.
Happened with Battlefield 4 a while back as well … Live was DDOS’d and the aftermath was B4 regressed back into a laggy unplayable mess. Players were teleporting all over, you’d die three feet around corners, get stuck on pebbles … all kinds off messed up -Yoink-.
The player base was screaming for the blood of out of regen players and they bore the brunt of the mobs anger. Funnily enough though things returned to normal once Microsoft sorted out the -Yoink- on their end.
It’s just bad timing is all, region lock gets lifted and Live goes to -Yoink- again.

“You know our Motto, -Yoink- logic!” -343i.

Of course we will match UK Players, they decided to turn off region lock for all playlists, even the ones we could play just fine. This goes agaisnt all logic becauses it -Yoinked!- everyone.

I think 343i is doing a good job of staying on top of things. They are producing new content for the community to enjoy and fixing bugs with their servers and game at the same time. I think that after all of the updates have dropped and they do some finally work on the servers. We will have one of the most enjoyable game on xbox. I love halo 5 and have loved playing since it was released and every month they just make it even more enjoyable. Just one thing. Why does the oni hog overheat now? I loved that thing when it was ridiculously overpowered. Maybe you guys should develop a new type of chain gun hog. Just something to think about.

Speak for yourself op, USA servers are fantastic for social modes but for anything ranked it’s far from perfect. 343 need to stop treating us like children and allow us to choose our server of preference that way it’s a win/win. Also why where is our latency numbers??? Common it’s 2016 for christ sakes, fix this and I’d be impressed.

No I don’t think we would. If the matchmaking system is any good once its unable to find local players it will look outside your region and naturally match you too the lowest latency server farm. For us that is West US, that undersea cable is the big one hence why you’ll find lower pings to US servers then Asian servers … even though Asia is geographically closer.
Euro servers would be close too or even higher than 400ms … not playable latency and most likely over the limit. Which I would imagine would be about 300ms.

Well the MM system is obviously not very good. If you play Warzone, The Oceanics servers most populated playlist, at prime time 7pm+ you will be put on laggy servers, regardless of the fact that there are a hell of a lot of oceanic players in the playlist.

Which goes back to my theory … as I can tell you I was experiencing lag related gremlins before region lock was actually lifted. Players teleporting about the map, rubber banding etc on local servers. It’s Battlefield all over again.

REQuest

Hopefully they listen again and turn it back on for everything but Free For All and Warzone Assault so we can go on our merry way and play games where it recognises your button presses instantly

It’s definitely not your standard teleport lag, it’s slight button delay lag / shot registration lag, which is prevalent in most games when you’re playing VS people from a country with thousands of kilometers between one another. Might not be a huge thing, but definitely takes the fun out of it if you come up against a very competitive team.

No Logic I live in the EU and play a lot of games on US south (Texas). Even if all the games where on US east it still would not be good enough thats about 100ms still to much latency to have an enjoyable game.

How is the lag and latency?

Shhhh… we all know what happens when you try and spread positivity on waypoint…

Seriously though, I’m happy for you. I’ve heard it was getting really bad in AUS, god knows it was difficult enough to find a match before region lock was removed in the UK.

I have found no lag yet only a bit of lag in one game of warzone assault but thats pretty much it… Im loving these changes

Selectable data centres were promised to us after the H5 beta by josh Holmes. We never did get an explanation as to why they didn’t make it into the final game. Add server selector!!!

343 will listen to this but not fans who have made a over 600 page thread about playable elites that’s been here since before halo 4 came out and has made many people leave halo or al least 343’s games because there still arnt playable elites. Don’t really see 343
listening to fans all that much.
