Thank you 343 industries for Halo 4

Dear 343,
I’ve been playing Halo since I was a child. Now, I’m an adult, I played every single title in the series on my good ol 360. When Halo 5 came out, naturally I bought the Xbox one while keeping my 360. The thing is, that I realized only a couple of weeks ago that I never finished Halo 4’s campaign, I know the story because it was my brother who finished it.

So I decided to finish the campaign, and once again me and the good ol 360 joined the Master Chief.

After playing Halo 5 for so long, it was challenging to adjust to the control settings in Halo4, but that didn’t last too long and in a matter of minutes (and after a lot accidental deaths for wanting to use the thruster pack) I was right on track.

To to keep things simple, I really enjoyed the campaign. It was a blast. It has some very cool moments and one hell of and ending (A lot of manly tears were shed)
Here is a list of things that were the most fun.

  • The controls and movement (without including the sprint) are phenomenal. Every shot I made felt a lot more accurate. - Flying with the Banshee was way more satisfying in this game than any other, including Halo 5. - Some of the dialogue was pretty cool and by that I mean that, we all know that the Master chief is Humanity’s savior, but the way everyone reacts as soon as he enters the room is fantastic (even the new Spartan IV’s) - The sound design of some of the weapons although different, is appreciated, like the assault rifle. - Something that I really loved, was the hard light shield. It made me feel like Captain America. I wish that the campaign would have made better use of them in its level design (or perhaps let use pick up the jackals’ shield as a dual wielding weapon, so that you could melee and deflect shots) - I really enjoyed the more deep and complex storytelling but the way the didact is defeated was anti climatic, a kick -Yoink- boss fight would have been nice. - The fact that there is actual blood (unlike Halo 5 were I feel that everything falls like a toy when it’s killed). It is so satisfying to shot enemies, especially the covenant, and see how all the blood just stains the floors and the walls. And when you get killed, your blood falls on the floor. The only two things that I really dislike are sprint and the fact that some enemies kill you too quickly.

  • Sprint breaks the flow of the game and I feel that it is useless in the campaign because every time I did it, the enemies would kill me instantly because I couldn’t use my weapons once I stopped sprinting. It would be nice if you consider to return to a more classic gameplay for the next installments. Look at the popularity of the Halo 5’ classic playlist. - Enemies are too unpredictable and very repetitive. It would be awesome if you could use the Prometheans’s blade after killing them. Thus, my main goal here is to thank you. Thank you for the chance of experiencing a new Halo campaign after so many years. Even with all its flaws, Halo 4 is a welcome addition to the Halo games. I cried at the end, very few (not only games) but stories have managed to do that. I believe you were on the right track. But sadly, you took a few steps back with Halo5. I only played the multiplayer for Halo 3 back in the day, and although Halo 5’ multiplayer is fun, that isn’t really my priority. The reason why I bought the Halo games wasn’t for the multiplayer, it was always about the campaign, and Halo 4’s was fantastic. The fact that I’m here, writing about it on Waypoint for the first time, proves my point.
Thank you for giving me the chance to see the Chief and Cortana on more time.
Sincerly, Someone who wishes the best of luck to the Reclaimers of the Halo saga.

Halo 4 is amazing

:+1:

It was a great conclusion (I’m ignoring Halo 5’s existence) to the friendship Master Chief had with Cortana. I didn’t like how the Banshee handled personally, mostly because it was always going forward at a moderate speed, where in earlier Halo games you could at least slow it down quite a bit.

Halo 4 is one of my favorite Halo games. I liked how they took Chief’s story and it would have been a great place to end Cortana. The only real problem I have with the game is the amount of ammo you could carry was small compared to other Halo games.

Halo 4 is my #1 all-time favorite game. I love the story, the maps, the guns, the armors, the soundtrack…and I even liked the fact that Spartan Ops lets your MP Spartan character be part of the canon story. It’s just amazing!

I’m graceful for Halo 4 Existing as well, honestly enjoy every minute of it, but it’s my 2nd favourite Halo, Halo 2 will remain my passionate Halo game

Yeah, I am the same way. I enjoy everything in Halo 4. Many people claim that Halo 4 is the worst, but I think that Halo 4 did everything perfect. Well maybe a few mistakes(Lack of ammo in the campaign and linear missions).

The campaign is the best in the series. I like the new Cortana/ Master Chief relationship. It has a more emotional story. The beginning reminds me a little of Halo CE and the end was good until Halo 5 ruined it. Not Halo 4’s fault, I heard the lead writer from Halo 4 left and worked on Mass Effect Andromeda.

I like loadouts, a very unusual opinion. I know many people hated them. Personal loadouts are one of my favorite parts of Halo 4. I can try to think of a certain class to beat a situation or another class. Spartan Ops allows personal loadouts too, which is cool. I usually go with Mobility and Ammo.

My favorite soundtrack is “Arrival”. It goes really well with that sense of urgency, in the last mission.

So many good BTB maps, such as Vortex, Ragnarok, and Meltdown.

I love the new art style too. The BR looks the best in the series and the Warthog looks and sounds awsome. Sound effect are light years ahead of Halo 3.

Sorry fore the long post. Like I said, I enjoy everything about Halo 4. I will probably keep playing online until there is no population left.

I appreciate all the halos that have came out

It feels good to see that people still appreciate Halo 4, even now. I understand the reasons why people dislike it, but honestly, it’s gone to the point where people think it’s just ‘cool’ to hate Halo 4. The arguments that say that Halo 4 is a COD clone don’t hold up because Halo 4 is, at its core, a tactical shooter, like all the others.

Halo 4 is my favorite installment in the franchise because it has customizable loadouts while at the same time being a tactical shooter. Playing around with different setups of weapons, equipment, abilities, and so on, is one of the most enjoyable things to do in a video game for me. But I don’t really like twitchy gameplay where players die near instantly, like COD. Halo 4 offered the best of both worlds to me.

As for the campaign, I loved it too because it felt less like a ‘shoot anything that moves’ FPS and more like an immersive Halo novel. The chief had character, he felt alive, not like a cold empty suit of armor for players to fill.

Halo 4 gets a lot of hate but tbh it is amazing and while the story has some holes i still love everything about it. Halo 4 you are loved:heart:!:joy:

Thanks 343

Same here, buddy. I love this game

As much as I don’t like Halo 4’s multiplayer, I’ll give where credit is due with how they did the campaign. Nice start off to the Reclaimer Saga and the ending even though there some plot holes here in campaign and Spartan Ops. Honestly, I think Halo 4 is the campaign that gives you reason to focus on Chief and Cortana’s relationship and how Chief is coping with Cortana’s ever unstable state and that Chief isn’t really the “one man that saves the world” type.\

The artstyle of Halo 4, I’m mixed on the whole design as there’s some I like and others I don’t like. Hopefully the team decide they’ll mix the artstyle of both the classic and current ones together.

I still cannot deny that Halo 4’s armour customisation is the best customisation I ever seen in all Halo games. You can change your helmet, armour, left and right shoulder plates, chest pest, visor, legs and forearms.

My perspective of Halo 4 is mixed on the multiplayer but really positive on the campaign. I hope 343i learns from their mistakes from both Halo 4 and 5 and analyse their successes from both games I mention for Halo 6 for you know, Halo 6 becomes the game we want to love and have fun with.

I had recently played halo 4’s campaign to find my real stance on it. And the story is amazing, although there were things that didn’t make sense (i noticed a lot of characters pulling information out of their -Yoink-), but that’s okay because halo 2 had a lot of moments like that. All in all it was a fantastic story and I honestly wish halo 4 was a movie, why you may ask? The gameplay in halo 4’s campaign is terrible, i enjoyed 4/8 of the missions in halo 4. The reason being that the missions are repetitive, boring, and most importantly linear. This is one of the only things i think halo 5 did better than halo 4 campaign wise. While halo 5’s story is awful, i had a fun experience playing through. It’s strange because i thought halo 4’s multiplayer was great, how did the campaign gameplay get so bad. Besically what I’m saying is that it drags halo 4 down a bit. I’ll give it a 7/10 because the story really is amazing.

I sort of liked the campaign though the Prometheans ruined it for me, just couldn’t get into it. Halo 4’s multiplayer is my favorite and I’m always on BTB but Reach was the best campaign for me and I’d be happy to play it again although hated the multiplayer. Each game is different and appeals to different people… if anyone is still on Halo 4 multiplayer and BTB, see you on the battlefield
