Just a topic to show my appreciation for commendations. Just when I thought I couldn’t grind any longer I started to try to complete all my remaining commendations… and the XP is flying by! Games seem to go faster too as I have a goal within each game.
At 151 with 700k XP remaining, I have the following to complete:
Both of the tough breakout commendations are close to level 5.
How is your commendation progress? Favorites? Least favorites? Tips for the tougher ones?
Surprisingly I had a lot of fun going for the gun goose Gunner. Something so satisfying about getting those kills, and definitely an acquired skill that wasn’t really developed in previous Halos.
Least favorite(besides the two breakout ones) has got to be brute plasma rifle just because of the amount of assists you get going for it. I’ll be so happy once it’s done. Mongoose destroyer sucks too but I never even get a chance to go for them so it is less frustrating(out of sight out of mind, haha).
At one point I had all commendations 100% complete. They’ve added a handful since I stopped playing though. The breakout ones were definitely the toughest. Not proud of some of my methods I used to get those Most fun was discovering that some weapons and tactics i had avoided were actually really fun to use, even if not always effective. Like sending an incinerator shot halfway across a warzone map and getting a kill, or playing swat and using nothing but spartan charge. Reqs and commendations were really fun to me. Hopefully Infinite has a nice assortment of commendations.

I’m jealous that you still have some commendations to do. I finished all the weapon ones so fast at the beginning playing super fiesta.
All I have left are the 2 breakout ones which I’ll probably never finish.
I was tearing my hair out over the Grunt Goblin one. After the many, many, many complaints people had over the Warden Slayer, they go and do it AGAIN?? That being said, I got my last one by blasting its shielded visor with a Sentinel Beam then popping the vulnerable grunt with a Battle Rifle.
With the Brute Rifle I’d recommend using the Tier 2 or Tier 3 one over the base one, and try and mop up other people’s kills rather than go head to head with a fully healthy and fully shielded enemy. It’s cheap, but it works.
I’ve long since given up on Breakout commendations
Castle Wars used to be good for Mongoose Destroyer, but now you might as well just keep an eye out for Gungooses in Warzone or Big Team Fiesta (And the slim chance you’ll get the horrible map Meta Wave in Fiesta Party. Sometimes people will jump onto the Gungoose in that.)
