Textures: transition up close (good to bad)

I know there is going to be a patch for a lot of things that this game
needs but what about the textures.

If you stand completely still on Ragnarok and look at the rock walls on
the map they change from blurry to somewhat detailed and then to very detailed.

The walls will keep doing that over and over again. Is there any word on
343i fixing any texture issues with the game.

Just annoying to see a beautiful looking map get ruined by the textures
changing.

Its a rendering trick they use to keep the game at a constant frame rate with everything going on in the game.

Thats weird. How come reach didnt have that at all?

Reach’s graphics weren’t as good, didn’t require the technique.

I’d rather have awesome graphics then pop in textures

It did. Objects in the background looked good from a distance but up close they were completely untextured. Its used to save processing power and conserve as much RAM and keep the framerates down. It may have been more subtle in reach.

Im not talking about objects looking like play-dough from far away.

Im talking about objects that are up close changing constantly from detailed to
blurry. What you talking isnt what im talking about. So im gonna guess this
is a texture issue that needs fixed.

Just go on ragnarok and look at the walls. I saw this on the side with the water behind the base to the left and its was crazy.

Perfect example go to red spawn on exile and zoom in on the cave to the left of middle and it looks like a big brown block inside

Keeping the framerate down is the last thing you want. You want as high of a framerate as possible.

Does it bother anyones eyes when the match starts off blurry before the games starts?

yes that gets very annoying. why did they add that

i have noticed this too if you look at the barrel of the wharthogs machine gun turret the detail is worse then halo 3 ( actually just checked it) and i believe detail wise halo 3 is the most detailed of all halo games!!! WHY IS THIS!!!

I meant up. Sorry

It’s a 7 year old console… its amazing the game looks the way it does.

I’m not talking about the textures up close for everything.

I’m simply just saying that the walls like change from good to bad for
as long as you look at them.

I’m not sure what the term for this texture issue is.

Anyone else noticed rocks on exile and meltdown totally loosing their texture at a distance, even while scope in, then retexuring when you move closer?

Perhaps it’s rose tinted glasses already, but I thought Reach’s visuals were great. In some cases, the audio was superior to Halo 4’s too.

I would worry more about this in sp then mp. I want to have a fast game and I hardly notice these things in the heat of battle. At such a pace the game looks very nice in mp imho.

if its in multiplayer and its extremely noticeable then it should be
fixed.
