usually im not so glum, but now im officially worried about halo’s future.

The CEA is coming with

  1. all pistol starts in classic. really? Is that right or am i wrong? That will ruin halo. no variety.
  2. no ZB game types maybe. please say there will be and by the way the reticle should never expand. the only thing that should signify that you can’t shoot would be that your gun does not fire.
  3. Jump height is low. Really? Please increase the jump height.

I hope changes will be made but I mean cmon, why are we starting off with these? How were they even accepted?

Please let me know if i am wrong in the top 3 things. Perhaps I am and I hope I am. If i am not then it is not good for halo.

they are trying to get back to “the baiscs” because so many have been calling out for classic gameplay.
Unfortunately many of these people do not realize that CE plays horribly online because:

  1. xbox version has no netcode
  2. pc version is unplayable in lag
    so instead of writing good netcode for CE 343 just made reach mechanics and ce mechanics into CEA mechanics.

CEA will not ruin halo, its gameplay for people that like that kinda stuff and will help sustain the reach population.

  1. I don’t believe all the games will have the pistol as a starting weapon for the Anniversary game types. I am not entirely sure myself, but we will just have to see.

  2. The Classic game types like anniversary mode are said to have Zero-Bloom. As for the other types, they might as well have the bloom be reduced by 85%. I am only assuming so I am not entirely so sure on that.

  3. As for Jump height…might be altered, might be not, better keep your hopes for it to increase a bit.

  1. um, you STARTED with the pistol in CE. why is it shocking that you will start with the pistol again? o.O" fail to see the logic there.

  2. some people like ZB. im not TOO fond of it but it does feel a little more like Halo CE/2 in a way.

  3. there making it about the same jump height as in CE from my understanding. if i remember right you could BARELY even jump over ghosts. been a long time since ive even tried as when i play the campaign these years, i tend to blow up a ghost so i havent tried jumping over it in a while.

I do understand where you are coming from though. This is just my input on the 3 points you said.

Its fine the only thing i might be avoiding is ZB slayer cuz i love bloom <3
zero bloom gametypes dont require skill unless your talking about how fast you can press the right trigger

i think he means when its getting shipped to stores? not sure really, but thats what I got out of it.

Actually, they’re fully aware of both of those points, and in fact those two points are precisely why they’re demanding Halo 1 online multiplayer.
If Halo 1’s and Halo PC’s network codes weren’t horrible under high-latency conditions, all of these people would be happy just having HPC and XBC/Kai.

Perhaps people such as youself don’t realize this because people asking for Halo 1 online multiplayer don’t usually qualify their posts with the additional statement of “…rebuilt with online netcoding in mind,” but that statement is definitely implied.

But many don’t realise what that could do. There is a entire generation of gamers who never played halo ce and have became adjusted to the way games play now that are balanced and the glitches are patched. If 343 did patch halo ces multiplayer it would not play as everyone remembered it and people would complain, in the same scenario if 343 did not patch the game then new gamers would become infuriated at the game and leave losing fath in 343 and halo. Plus halo 4 comes out next year it would be a wasted effort to pull all resources onto a game thats only ment to last you until halo 4. Also by doing this halo 4 may suffer and may have to be delayed.

Anniversary Classic game types have the following settings: no Armor Abilities, Anniversary Pistol (pistol traits have been modified to replicate CE behavior), one Frag Grenade upon loadout, player speed increased, gravity increased, jump height increased, shield and health recharge rates increased, and melee damage reduced. Please note that the standard TU changes also apply to Anniversary Classic game types.
TU Game types are our standard Reach Matchmaking settings with the Title Update changes. Those changes are: damage bleed enabled, modified reticle bloom, sword block removed, Armor Lock modified, and Active Camo modified. You can read more about the specifics of the Title Update here.

nah this is great news. pistol AR starts is beauty. back to basics and pure fun. h2 was the best for that SMG starts all weapons were pick up.

On topic:

  1. In Halo CE you started with the pistol, why would change that for the anniversary?
  2. From what I’ve read the “bloom” on the pistol only signifies the rate of fire. I’m on the fence on this one.
  3. This is my biggest complaint with the anniversary gametype. Needs to be fixed ASAP.
  1. What do you mean no variety? Are you suggesting everyone spawns with a random gun, or are you suggesting everyone spawns with a garbage weapon and the game just becomes a race to power weapons?

Who cares if the reticule expands when you can’t shoot as long as there is NO BLOOM, seriously it’s a minor aesthetic and doesn’t affect gameplay.

Halo CE had a low jump height. The reticule expansion is visual only, and there is no bloom (although CE had bloom). Halo CE’s pistol was beast.

Sorry to get off topic here, but does the reticle actually expand in ZB- but reset before the weapons will fire agains? I’ve said for far too long that this is how bloom should work! Bloom should only be visually pleasing- it should have no effect on the weapons functionality.

Almost anyone who uses the ‘variety’ argument started with Halo 3, and grew up on that cluster–Yoink- of a sandbox.

yes i did play when halo 1 came out. it was a better game than reach. in fact 2 and 3 were better too. i like variety of many weapons. i dont care about it being exactly halo 1. Ive played that already. i just want the same game mechanics.
