Hello all,
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. But since I’m moving to a new place and got super bored, I watched all the Halo terminal videos in one sitting.
I am moved and inspired by the representation of keys battle with the flood for his mind. Not only did it feel like a legitimate representation of lore, it also felt like a true to feel version of the authors thoughts from the book.
See this is my only gripe with halo adaptation. Reach was fun to watch…but, for example. Mendez seemed like he didnt fit the bill according to what the author made us feel about him. He was not a soft spoken man. As a military man I understand that drills are not that way. He seemed to soft, to calm. The man was training Spartans of a space age. I understand that companies have to have certain concessions because of ratings; however. That does not need to be a fear. Many of literature have thrived on what they are. Be it literature, music, or visual.
I believe halo does not need to embrace the culture, but needs to become it’s own. That’s what made every sci fi so great. Star trek, star wars, firefly, and countless others. Halo legends did a good job of this; however it was the work of countless directors. Like a shotgun blast, it lacked continuity.
Do you agree? Or what other critiques would you add to mine?
