Terminal Missions

So far we have been given terminals with text and video, so why not gameplay? Some of us want to play as Forerunners, but some of us don’t want the game to detract from the Chief’s story. This could be the solution. You wouldn’t have to play these terminals, but doing so may provide some more insight on who the Forerunners are. So if you wanted, you could play the main campaign as the Chief and then come back later to play as a Forerunner (if you wanted to of course). Now I don’t see this idea happening, but I thought it would be a nice idea to just get out there. Thoughts?

Edit: I forgot to mention that each of these sub-missions would probably be no more than 5 minutes long.

I suppose you could look at it that way. I was thinking when you accessed a terminal the player would be sent back in time to play as a Forerunner to see what had been going on before (or if they were alive after and conflict was still occuring) the Halo event.

No. I’d prefer Terminal cutscenes. Actual cutscenes, not those animated picture things we had Halo Anniversary.

It could work (cutscenes I mean) since it already has. I would rather play as the character in the terminal, mix things up a little. Although it may not be the best idea out there, it might be interesting way to play as a Forerunner through the terminals, but then again it also might not. We’d never know until we tried. And like I said, these terminal missions would probably have to be no longer than 5 minutes (as to not forget the Chief’s story) and there could be narrative while you played through. Anyway, unless 343i has the time, I don’t think they’d be able to do this. Although, it might be an interesting DLC.

So kind of like in the StarCraft 2 : Wings of Liberty campaign where you play as Zeratul for five missions or so? Or like in AC Revelations with the Altair moments? I like that idea!

I think a whole new level hidden within a level is a bit much.

Maybe an interactive cutscene however could work, similar to Half-Life’s cutscenes. The player is always in control, or an example more players could relate to, MW3’s flashback scene.

eh not really… i think a combat skin would make me feel like a forerunner already ^^
