Temporary quit ban longer than reach

I don’t think anyone has posted anything about the temporary ban for quitting in halo 4, I’ve searched google and nothing. The results I’ve seen on the search engine had only shown me bans for xp, not for quitting. So, here’s the story, my brother and I were playing very laggy matches in big team on ragnarok and dominion on shatter. We had quit those two and tried a game of CTF only to lag some more. We left that match to try another game of dominion that had little lag, which we played from start to finish. After finishing we received a message saying that we were temporarily banned from playing matchmaking for SIXTY MINUTES! No other games were left prior to the ones stated previously. We only quit three games back to back, played another game that was finished, and received an unjust ban for only quitting THREE games! We had to end our night of fun early because of this (I guess) broken penalty system. Unless this was supposed to happen it seems that halo 4 is still riddled with bugs and glitches. I understand that newly released games have a few kinks that need to be worked out in the beginning, but this is a bit beyond what was expected. We feel that we do not deserve such an outrageous ban for quitting a small amount of matchmaking games. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention (I don’t know if it affects the game’s judgement on penalizing players)that we play splitscreen. Would that perhaps count as double the amount of quitting for us? I’m unsure of whether or not we exceeded the allowable number of quittable games. If it is, then it’s an awfully small amount. Has anyone else encountered this problem yet? And what do you think of this new 60 min. temporary ban? Also, I’d like to apologize in advance if I happen to be reposting something that has already been discussed.

Are you sure you and your friend were banned because you quitted games? maybe something else is the reason for the ban? i suspect you aren’t telling us the whole story. but if you are sure then you should contact 343.

Yes, we’re sure. We hadn’t done anything else that would’ve caused this. Whenever we try to play any matchmaking games it displays a big notification on screen for quitting. We’ve done nothing wrong, we weren’t using microphones, we weren’t doing anything that would warrant a ban in any way besides quitting which was all that the message had told us and it was only a few matches.

the system is working as intended. don’t only think about yourself when you get banned for quitting out. you ruin a lot of other people’s games by leaving and making them outnumbered. sorry, you deserve it 100%

Join in progress.

Hey thanks milk, it’s good to see that other intellectuals read these posts. As I’ve said before, we were lagging, tremendously in fact. It was to the point where we couldn’t even play and on top of that we were already short handed due to other players already quitting on our team and leaving us there to get decimated by the opposing team. So, why is it that you think that we should be banned for 60 min. because we didn’t want to participate in matches that were bombarded with enough lag to render the game virtually unplayable?

That sucks that it is now an hour long wait. I guess I will simply disconnect my controller in laggy games and watch TV for 15 min. There is no sense in having to wait 60 min between laggy matches. It kinda sucks living out in the middle of Hicksville, USA where internet providers are sub-par at best. Why do small towns get the dirty end of the stick when it comes to internet providers?

I never even realized there was one.

Wait, what?

There’s a quit ban with a low threshold, in a game with join-in-progress and unreliable region-based matching?

That’s… What…? How…? I…

Wow.

Do that for too many matches and you’ll trip an AFK ban unless you get at least one kill or objective-point, even if you don’t stop playing.

Something to do with the large companies giving up on those areas under the premise that they’re too expensive to supply, opening the door for less scrupulous providers to set up monopolies, which should totally be illegal but aren’t.

Don’t remember where I read that, though, and in any case it’s veering a bit off-topic. :\

As it should be. Quitters deserve bans. Join in progress is not 100%. I’ve finished a few games down 1 or 2, and sometimes it takes a few to get players even at the beginning.

It still ruins the experience for those left when people cry and take their ball and go home because they didn’t get Camp-lex for the 3rd game in a row.
