Temporarily banned from playing Halo: Reach online

I still play Reach (not a fan of the new Halo games) and need some assistance. If not from staff then from a fellow player. So here it goes…I was temporarily banned because of “quitting”. All I can say is I didn’t purposely quit EVER. I never rage-quit Halo. It’s one of those unique games where even if you’re getting rek’t, it’s still fun to watch the chaos and destruction go on around you. This is the first time this has ever happened to me. However; my internet has been a horse’s -Yoink- lately. The internet provider are being complicated, they wont come out and look at the phone lines (I live on someone’s private property). I recently had to solder one of the wires connecting to the router. Most of the day my internet connects, disconnects, stays online for about 7 minutes, then disconnects again. I’m lucky I’m even getting the time to write this.

Now inevitably that affects my Xbox Live as well. I’ve been disconnected from several games I’ve tried to play recently. Sometimes it’s in the heat of battle, sometimes it’s before I even get a chance to see the map we’re on. That causes me to get 0 points and go back to the matchmaking screen. Today I was loading a Big Team Battle and the game didn’t even start. The list of player’s gamertags came up then I was disconnected, everyone’s gamertags were then grayed out. So Bungie, Microsoft, whatever looks at this like it’s my fault then tells me I am unsportsmanlike and banned from playing Halo: Reach online because of “quitting” too many times. Leave it to Bungie to blame it on the customer.

I had no idea there was a penalty (again, this is the first time this ever happened to me) for this and had I of known I’d be banned from online experience then I would of really, really tried to do something about my internet before even attempting to play the game. I.m.o. its not right to punish me for something like that especially when I had no reason to quit in the first place.

Questions: How long does this ban last? Will I be more severely banned if this continues to happen? Is there any way I can get access to it back or prove that it’s not my fault?

Hello.
Considering it’s a ban from matchmaking, it’s due to the obvious disconnections from your Internet connection, or possibly… The players participating in the game. The Halo Reach ban system is automated and isn’t controlled by the staff that oversees the game.

The ban hammer does not know how to differentiate between a quitter or a person with faulty connection to the game. Therefore it bans you.

However the ban does not prolong with every time you get banned, it is always 10 minutes.

Bad news is that 343i has reach running, but does not attend to people with these problems, as stated by most players, the ban system is hard wired in the game, and it cannot be taken away, you will just have to wait out the ban, I know by experience, I had a horrible connection for years.

I hope this helps.
