Temp. ban on console and accts on Halo Reach

All of the XBOXLIVE accounts on my console have been temporarily banned from Halo Reach multiplayer and no one has done anything wrong. My daughter likes playing but shes not good at all. Shes only 4 years old and enjoys the game. If we were banned for AFK’ing is was not because no one was playing because she was she just didnt get any kills. Is there some way you can lift the ban and if not how long will it last and is it going to happen again to our console?

Bans can’t be appealed, so it won’t be removed.
It all depends on your previous bans, if it is your first time, then it will be 24-48 hours.
If anyone on the console has multiple games with zero kills, yes, it will happen again.

But if that was the cause of the ban then wouldnt it just be my account and not all of them on my console?

> But if that was the cause of the ban then wouldnt it just be my account and not all of them on my console?

It should be, yes.

But Bungie didn’t think things through when they were designing their system. They were much too concerned with punishing their user base for an indiscretion, regardless of whatever real-world reason exists behind the situation.

Stops you from going onto another account and playing credits.

get other players than just you a own profile, as people can’t mess up in your name again… no offense though.

> Stops you from going onto another account and playing credits.

I’m sure that’s also what Bungie was thinking. But that too is flawed logic.

Take a look at the sheer size of the “official thread.” If this were true, I suspect the thread would be substantially smaller because players with account bans wouldn’t have anything to complain about, they’d just switch to their other account.

In short, banning the whole console really doesn’t make any practical sense.

Moa’s correct. To elaborate on the matter:

> Bans can’t be appealed, so it won’t be removed.

This is because 343i, and Bungie before them, don’t have enough staff to handle manual appeals or reports.

> If anyone on the console has multiple games with zero kills, yes, it will happen again.

This is because Bungie wanted to stop players from AFKing, but weren’t able to code actual AFK detection into the game, so they came up with a well-intentioned but broken workaround. You were right about the cause of your ban: the system relies on guesswork, searching for players that have earned zero points in several matches and banning those players.

The “AFK” ban can be avoided in Slayer gametypes by getting at least one kill. (I don’t know if assists count.) I would recommend scoring at least one kill before letting your daughter play; that’s a bit inconvenient, but it could help you avoid future credit bans. Note that if you and your daughter play together (whether she plays as a guest or uses her own gamertag), both of you will have to get at least one kill per match to reliably avoid the banhammer.

If you feel like reading a really detailed explanation on the matter, you can try this.
