Tell your friends to buy an X1 if you want Halo to

Tell your friends to buy an Xbox One if you want to see Halo 5 and future Halo’s grow again. Sony was selling 2 to 1 consoles during the console war and they beat out Microsoft. Halo 5 had a smaller base to start with compared to Halo 3 for example, of course you will see a sales decline.
You might see a small percentage lost due to it not being exactly like other Halo’s, but I guarantee it’s not a material amount. Look at Bungie, they abandoned Microsoft and went with Sony for exclusives etc…They knew they will sell way more copies of Destiny on PS4 than X1.
Your decline in population and sales has less to do with them “changing the formula”, and more to do with a decline in console sales. If you think them changing the formula to Halo 3 or something is really going to drive sales and the game, I completely disagree. Best thing you can do is tell your friends to buy an Xbox.

I’m not going to tell them to buy a game or console they have no interest in. Honestly MS -Yoinked!- up this gen from the start and vision of what they wanted the XB1 to be.

Already have an X1 and so do some of my friends. The ironic part is most friends that play H5 complain about it often, I highly doubt any of us will keep playing in the long term because the game isn’t as good as H3. The main reason for the decline is because 343i keep releasing broken games and refusing to go back to their roots, the mis-leading marketing that have annoyed plenty of my friends, even some of my friends have sold their xbox one’s to go to Ps4 because of how broken Halo MCC was, many have even sold their H5. If 343i really want Halo to ‘grow’ then they need to fix their games and actually start respecting their fan-base.

Most my friends have families and if they don’t have one already i doubt they’ll be getting one

As far as I’m concerned, by the time Halo 5 launched the X1 had sold more consoles than there were sold X360s when Halo 3 launched.
So Halo 5 had an initial potential player base larger than that of Halo 3.

X1.
X360.

Having played the PS4 at my friends, I can safely say that the exclusive titles the PS4 is sporting makes me jealous. Far more interesting games on that side, small games, than there are on the xbox at the moment.

Halo was a system seller back then, it isn’t anymore, it has lost its touch.
I’d say it’s partially because Halo forgot how to be a trend setter.

If Halo 5 had same community like it did in the Halo 2-3 days, then I might push for that. In fact I pushed for my friends to buy a Xbox 360 back then, because of Halo, and not a single one of them stuck with the franchise after Halo 4. So the problem is buried in the game itself. Halo has been on a decline.

I’m not so much of a jerk to tell my friends to buy a console for a trash game, heck, I wouldn’t even say go buy trash 5: guardians if it meant I wouldn’t get T-bagged by a fat guy.

That’s interesting about your thoughts on the PS4. I have a PS4. I have the exclusives. I find them all to be good, but not great. I’m sure many might disagree. But one example, I got the remastered version of The Last of Us since I didn’t play it on PS3. It was good , but not great and frustrating at times. Really didn’t live up to the hype that it gets on gaming websites. Killzone: ShadowFall, good but not great and the MP is completely dead. By my guess I think on a good day less than 1000 are playing. Uncharted- Good but not great. At times its more of an interactive movie than a game. I have enjoyed it, But again it does not meet the hype. Tomb Raider for me is much better.
Infamous:Second Son- Again good , but not great. And Don’t even get me started on The Order 1886. That single game is by far the worse game I have played since ET on the Atari 2600. Although I never played that horrible superman game(I forget what console it was on ). Even on the games that are coming out. Nothing coming is going to be trend changing. I don’t really see anything I will buy for it in the next few months other than BF1. I’m getting BF1 on PS4 because my BF friends play on PS4. I have PS4 friends and XB1 friends, and PC friends. But to sum it up, I’ve been disappointed by what Sony has brought to what I had expected.

Tell 343 to make a Halo worthy of trying to force someone you know to buy an Xbox One.

I’ve always been an Xbox guy since I chose the original Xbox over the PS2 way back when. Once I held an Xbox controller in my hand, yes even the duke, I never liked the playstation controller again… if my thumbs have different functions the controller should reflect that, and the xbox controller does, while the PS controller does not IMO. Completely off topic… but my point is… Crash Bandicoot is coming back! may have to get a PS4 just for that.

But I think the Xbox One has gone in the right direction. I bought my first Xbox one when it first came out and today it is a completely different machine when you take into account the software updates and what is beginning to become an awesome library of games, especially with the flood of games coming out in the next few months. Not sure these awesome games will help the population of Halo though… But I think we need to face a cold hard fact… Halo is not a game for casual gamers and the population is going to reflect that.

That’s why H4 on the 360 was a huge success with sustained population. /s Not to mention MCC was a complete disaster.

I’m with you on the controllers. the 360 controller and XB1 controller feel a lot more natural But I will say the PS4 controller is a big improvement over the prior controllers. But the Xbox controllers are still superior. what I have bolded can make up a thread of its own. I have often stated why other shooters( cough COD cough)will always be preferred, in the words, the skill gap.

Except Halo 4 was not a success. It had one of the biggest drops in population in Halo history since the base at launch took a drastic drop barely months after it’s release. Sure consoles was a reason for poor sales for Halo MCC but now sales for the Xbox One is recently beating the Ps4, yet I doubt it’s increasing much for MCC because of the fact MCC was broken for so long and many people are hesitate to trust 343i when 343i is still currently mis-managing Halo future like they did with H5, I’m sure some people are jumping onto H5 because it’s the latest Halo in the series to see what the IP is like, probably because they heard that 343i was trying to make Firefight in H5.

I think you missed the ‘/s’ in my post.

That doesn’t make sense.

My friends either:
A) Swear by their Wii Us and 3DSs. Don’t feel like trying to force them into something they don’t want to.
B) Prefer the PS4. No point in trying to convince them to buy another console they didn’t care for to begin with.
C) Stick with mobile.

“/s” means sarcastic or sarcasm is used in everything before the symbol.

You should know that’s not obvious to everyone but still nice to hear.

My friends are all interested in League of Legends and Pokemon GO. Actually wait I play Pokemon GO too. LOL
People’s preferences change over the years. They find better interests in other games. I stuck with halo because of its game pace and it’s style. Though I don’t like it’s art style now, the gameplay is fun.

Yeah, thats why I don’t use it and just say I was being sarcastic if I wasn’t being obvious enough.
