So we just started a game of Breakout. The game has just started. My friends phone starts ring and he has to answer it. Now he’s idle. He can’t quit he’ll get a 10 minute ban. After 3 rounds the game boots him for being idle and gives him a 13 minute ban.

Bad things happen to those ill prepared. 13 minute phone call? He couldn’t just say" I’ll call you back?" Sounds like some kid was getting a pep talk from his mom and got banned for idling.
Having that happen once won’t cause a ban, but having it happen continually will. Other factors outside of idling like quitting and teak killing also come into play as well. Your friend is welcome to discuss this further in the ban thread in the Halo 5 support forums
