No mention at all of how the game runs at 30fps on Xbox One and One X, feeling like a downgrade compared to Halo games on the same gen of consoles, and putting cross platform players at a competitive disadvantage vs Series and PC players.
I get why the last-gen version is compromised in this way, but it would still be nice to see 343 address it.
Thoughts?
Last gen will run at 30fps to get the targeted performance they are aiming for. I’m not surprised at all they are doing this, especially considering some of the best games this generation have been locked at 30fps due to hardware limitations. So honestly I would not expect them to address it at all for last gen consoles.
Why is it a shock its running at 30 fps? The engine went through a rework and there are a lot more graphical and system features in the current iteration. The fact it runs at all on those old Jaguar cores its shocking to be honest
its generous that infinite is even playable at all on the original xbox one, it’s 8 year old hardware. however the xbox one x certainly has the computational power for 60+ fps.

It’s not a shock, but 343 could still address things like whether enabling cross-gen play with 60 and 120+ fps players makes sense, or whether this will only be done in social modes and not competitive ones, how they’re handling it that way. The tech preview also apparently included a performance mode toggle in the One X menus that didn’t do anything, so even though it’s assumed the Ones will be capped at 30 in the final game, it would be good to have that 100% confirmation of what they’re aiming for

fair
I honestly don’t know what to tell people who expect more than 30 fps on a brand new game when they’re using a console ad old as the XBO. Maybe those people should re-evaluate the thoughts they’re using to set their own expectations.
My opinion is this game should have been for new gen consoles and PC only. Would have opened up possibilities for bigger player counts, bigger maps etc.

The multiplayer is free to play they won’t separate the population based on Fps capabilities it’s not their fault there are some still on old systems. Tbh I thought it was daft keeping it on last Gen but here we are. It’s not ideal they also ignored any mention of normal progression within the game. no spartan ranks nothing. They can see it on here and on Twitter but they have remained silent. That should worry everybody more so than anything else.
IMO they should have dropped support for last gen if they couldn’t get it to 60fps, particularly because of the 60fps standard for MCC/H5.
I agree that they need to come forward with their targets. It’s not like I’m broke…I just didn’t think it would be that hard for the X1X to hit 1080p 60 when even PUBG can do that.

Halo Infinite’s development prioritized the Series and PC versions, so it’s very dependent on faster CPUs to make it run properly.
And therefore the One X can do good high res image quality, but not 60fps, because it’s easier for that older console, with its decent GPU but weak CPU, to do more pixels rather than more frames.
I mean, what did you expect? This is standard for cross gen games

Drop a whole platform hust for a few FPS? Nah, big disagree. As person who doesn’t really care whether it’s 30 or 60 fps, if I were an Xbone player I would be really disappointed if that’s the reason they chose to drop it
Shouldn’t even be for old gen tbh. It’s holding back the game.

Xbox One is a old platform, it’s not shocking that the game is running at 30FPS at all.
XCloud is coming to consoles at the end of the year, you’ll be able to stream the Series X version to your Xbox One - with a high frame rate.
XCloud is going to be a solution to keep Xbox One users to keep playing newer games. It’s a good compromise solution, XCloud runs very very well.
If you don’t like that then you’ll need to upgrade your hardware. Xbox One isn’t likely to be getting any kind of major performance upgrades.
