This may or may not have already been mentioned, but even for a short trailer, I can say that I like the direction the music is going. It sounds a lot more like Halo in my opinion than Halo 4’s soundtrack did. I haven’t had Halo music give me chills since Halo 3.
What are your thoughts on this?
Edit: Changed thread name to “Teaser trailer music”
Kazuma Jinnouchi composed it, he also composed 117 from Halo 4. I really liked the teaser music (Although I think it is too soon for a new Halo game), and I love 117.

Yes, I couldn’t remember his name (though a quick Google search could have solved that).
Not really a fan of all the electronic synth noises in the first half of “117” though. It is a good composition, but I always felt like Halo music was themed around driving drums and strings, with some piano and choir vocals sprinkled in. The 2nd half was much better.
And I also agree that it is too soon for a new Halo game. We can only hope that 343i can deliver in such a short window. Hoping for Q4 of 2014.

Hopefully in Halo 5’s full soundtrack, it will be completely Kazuma Jinnouchi… Not Neil Davidge.
Neil Davidge’s music seems to fit that “Cannon Fodder” feel to it. Apart from the songs showing no emotion and having bland electronic loopings, it also doesn’t give off HALONESS!!
Hell, Neil Davigde’s only good composition, Arrival, was just using a hugely cliched melody that sounded more like Christmas music than Halo. It also didn’t fit the scene that it played in.
However; Jinnouchi on the other hand, not only uses real instruments in his songs instead of electronic loopholes, but his songs give off that thematic Halo feel that Martin O’Donnell and Micheal Salvatori established in the original games.
I’m even a composer of music myself, and an individual’s compositions have a similarity to each other that gives off a “Hand Writing” For example, my songs tend to use a Minor Scale and have a consistent melody that goes down the octave in one set of measures, and then up the octave in the next; but also chord progressions that tend to rise to a climax and then falling abruptly.
And in all honesty, Neil Davidge’s so called “Hand Writing” seems to cluttered an inconsistent for Halo. It seems to fall in a more “Dubstep” category, and they really don’t move the listener towards emotions.
I did like it, but it sounded a bit generic and a lot like Halo 4’s stuff. I find that the new music in Halo is a bit more complementary than supplementary.
It was ok, the only part I can always remember is when he hold up Cortana’s chip. I hope the new soundtrack has more memorable and unique sounding tracks, as opposed to “epic” ones.
