Teams should only match other teams in Halo 5

I’ve been playing FPS games for a long time now and the most unbalanced games and gameplay I’ve ever had was when full teams would get matched up against random players. It makes for the most unbalanced games when a full team runs into a randomly matched up team. I hope they make it to where if your a team of 3 or 4 you can only match other teams of 3 or 4. If this doesn’t happen in Halo 5 it’s going to cause alot of unbalanced games in my opinion. Any thoughts?

You’ll be waiting a long time for matches if this is implemented. Halo has always had a stronger emphasis on teamwork when compared to other FPS titles. Forming a team for matchmaking will generally always give you an advantage. How big of an advantage comes down to player communication and skill. I’ve been matched up against preformed teams in plenty of matches and we ended up winning. It just requires your randomly matched team to work together well.

I too have beaten full teams with randoms but when I have a full team and go against randoms they just end up quiting and we chase one guy around for the full length of the game. This happens two out of three games when I have a full team.

I noticed a lot of that prior to the true implementation of ranks and the quit penalties. Since then I’ve seen a marked decrease in the amount of people quitting a game when being matched up against an obviously preformed team. This is also probably a lot more prevalent in the lower levels of matchmaking as it takes far less time to recoup your ranking losses at lower levels.

Regardless, I don’t believe that this is an issue that needs “fixing”. If more people realized that playing against a coordinated team will make you a better player instead of quitting when things don’t go your way the game would be much better off. Oh well.

I know on the backend the system is trying to match premades against other premades first but sometimes you can get stuck waiting a long time so it starts finding randoms which then results in a lolstomp for the premade team. Sometime I wonder how hard the system actualy tries because I remember several instances when playing BTB me and my buddy would get stomped by a full premade, start a new search, get matched to another full premade, get stomped, search again, get matched to yet another full premade, get stomped yet again… It really killed the game for us and we rarely quit out but it was what ultimately made us quit playing halo. Getting matched to randoms or small teams of 2-3 was much more enjoyable. Getting matched to premades where most the opposing team had 50K-100K+ kills on record was just boring as hell.

Make casual BTB and ranked BTB. Simple.

I think it could definitely use some moderation. I’m 1.59 in Halo Reach and I’m still losing 83% of my games.

It makes you a better player - in the sense that battling a Porsche 918 around the track with a Honda will make you a better racer… Getting GOOD randoms on your team makes it a little more like racing the 918 with a GTR, but you get the idea…

This isn’t just a matter of better teamwork or ‘skill’. With 8 players partied on one team, they gain host advantage as well, and once everyone and their mother backs you into a corner, (and they will, you’ll be one of the only ones left on your team) they’re going to kill you over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.

People need to understand that casual BTB is for everyone, and until they get a ranked BTB playlist, randoms vs. clans matchups can kindly die.

^^^^^^^^^^^
So how about for casual BTB, you can only go in alone like in Halo 3 lone wolves, and ranked will allow parties?

Give us a search filter, like a more advanced one from reach

that would work

In Halo 3 if you searched solo, you were way more likely to find solo players, which in my opinion was so much better in my opinion.

Teams should always get matched against teams if possible, it’s so much better that way.

I agree with you 100 percent. It makes for a way better matchmaking experience when they put pre-made teams against other pre-made teams. When this doesn’t happen you get inflated k/d ratios and people that quit alot do to lack of teamwork on the random made team. They cant expect a bunch of randoms teamed up to play better than a group thats been playing together for months maybe even years.

I feel ya man. It’s hard when they have it to where randoms can match pre-made teams. It makes you not even want to play matchmaking when this happens. Halo 5 should set it to where pre-made teams only find other pre-made teams. If they dont I think a lot of people that may not have many friends that want to play halo5 together will end up moving on too another game because of this factor.
