Teammates Quitting

Logged on last night to find that the new season had started. I was super excited because I enjoyed the whole placement process the first time around. First four games were as follows (don’t even remember the scores or who won because I was so mad):

1st game (Slayer): Finished 4 v 3
2nd game (Slayer): Finished 3 v 1
3rd game (Breakout): Finished 4 v 1
4th game (Breakout): Finished 2 v 3

Not sure which of the following questions is more appropriate, but here are both. What in the world is going on in the minds of the developers when this happens? What is going on with the community with all these quitters?

I HATE Call of Duty, but at least I can finish a game having fun because the teams are still even. Without join in progress most Halo matches end up with me being pissed off and giving up. I hate this. I understand that there is a ban for quitting, but obviously the threat of that punishment isn’t stopping people. Unless they’re lagging out which in that case I have no idea what to say. Either way Im starting to question how much I love this game. I really want it to be the FPS that I think it is, because it has by far the best mechanics and most fluid controls IMO. But I can’t deal with the frustrations of that for much longer.

TL;DR: People quitting during arena matches are ruining this game for me. Not that you have any reason to care, but just in case.

*sidenote: the way points are awarded for killing warzone bosses is also extremely frustrating, but I’ve accepted that

Quitting out of games has been around since the inception of online gaming. It is impossible to control peoples actions, which is why quitting is so common. People quit in CoD all the time, the only difference is they have JiP in the majority of their playlists. There is JiP in Warzone and BTB, which works since both of those are not ranked. Having JiP in ranked matchmaking does not work at all.

Try and recruit people to play with, because really that is the only way you can control on if your teammates quit or not.

I played last night and said the same thing, i came across so many games where people had quit, either on my team or the other team. It wasn’t even as if one team was losing by much. I’m not sure if people are disconnecting on purpose or not, to me it wouldn’t make sense, but i noticed even when a team is winning someone would quit from the winning team. Surly that’s not on purpose.

I just quit playing warzone because so many people don’t get in teammates warthogs. Not only is it impossible to win a game, it’s impossible for me to complete one with teammates like that.

I’ve come up with a solution for this in this forum: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/6e35355aecdf4fd0acdaee3cc4156fd4/topics/disconnection-reconnection-rejoin-feature/c221af02-d0f2-4038-b2c3-ee5c8849476d/posts
If you have a look and agree with it, you should give it thumbs up. If it was implemented, you wouldn’t suffer from it

  • Adds rejoin feature - More accurate banning feature - Fairer and more reliable games

People quitting games is happening so frequently I suspect it’s lag/servers. Literally every other game I have one less teammate or enemy. Just as frequent and likely to happen as playing swatnums in swat.

I know people quit when losing but it is way to much after the reset. So seems like a problem.

Also I have no problems people quiting Breakout when it comes up in Team Arena.

Its a problem that will never go away. My suggestion is to find some guys to play with and go in as a team. If people on the other team quit then just take your win and move on. Everyone person who posts here is a potential teammate. Send some friend requests / messages on XBL to find people, maybe even join a company to meet people. Send me a request on XBL and join our community when we play.

ya id be down for joining i foolishly did my swat and slayer qualifiers solo omg horrible idea i knew better but im definitely decent just send me a friend request or message ill be on later tonight my gt is GeneralRAAMsies and i might even have some of my other buddies join you

Happened to me yesterday. The opposing team had all 4 member but then it dropped by two and then it was 1 and that 1 guy played on which impressed me because most people would’ve left. I used to quit a lot but then I stopped because I actually wanted to finish my games. But I got on an hour ago and I played my first game and lagged out so I went back tried to start another game and it was stuck at loading game then told me that it couldn’t connect me so I was like ok cool but then I got banned for 56min like really -__- so now I have to wait 30min to play again. But halo 5 should’ve shipped with the ability to join a match in progress. This game is so incomplete it just frustrates me. They should’ve waited till it was actually done. The matching system sucks 90% of the time. I was in a game yesterday or the day before that had a diamond player on the enemy team. And my team was just two golds and two silvers? I’m not sure. Could’ve been bronze. We got destroyed. It just matches you with whatever. Map spawning is poor 70% of the time. Usually get killed 2 seconds after I spawn because it spawns me near enemies. But whatever. I’ll probably go back to playing titanfall. Multiplayer was fun on that

This happens to me anytime I play with random people online. It’s very annoying. Also barely anyone has a microphone or aren’t bright enough to use them to coordinate attacks or point out opponents in the map.

I just wanted to know if anyone has ever had the disconnecting message. I was playing with a full fireteam in slayer, and on the countdown to start the match I got a message saying “Disconnecting from the lobby service” even though I hadn’t done anything. It remained on screen for about 2 minutes before finally the red Disconnection screen happened, and I was in the main menu. It was really weird, because I was still talking to everyone in the party the whole time, and they won the 3v4. So sometimes it may be the servers, and in this case I have no idea why there would be a disconnect loading screen,

It makes no sense to have it in team arena, its has its own playlist. 343 wasn’t smart in this decision.

I started to report all quitters. I am beginning to block them as well. Please save the weak takes about disconnects. A quit and a disconnect have the same impact. I disagree that jip will not work, it worked in H4.

There a reason why they quit the game because of Bad teams and people too dumb of getting on tanks, warthogs and warths.

I’m sorry to say this, but if you are not playing with a set group of friends online, then quitting is something you’re simply going to have to get used to.

There is no punishment that 343 can implement that will prevent people from quitting. They could ban people’s accounts for months and they would still quit. When people rage quit, they usually aren’t thinking clearly and the possibility of punishment doesn’t even occur to them.

Adding Join-in-progress to ranked Arena matches would be absolutely infuriating to anyone added to a losing team midway through that match.

What 343 does need to do is add a permanent social Arena playlist. I truly have no idea why this hasn’t been done permanently already but the only logical answer would be that they are afraid of splitting the community up into more groups with more playlists and thus increasing queue times when looking for matches.

I feel ya OP, having had similar experiences.
I think 343 should implement a system in matchmaking that measures how often players quit during games and matches players accordingly. That way, everyone would be matched in games with players of similar quit frequency.
