Team SWAT - What Happened?

So I took about a month break and came back and all of the sudden the only options for maps that come up are Countdown, Powerhouse, Zealot and the rare Sword Base and Asylum.

Reflection MAY pop up under plots or potato gametypes but lets be honest…no one plays those games in SWAT.

My question is why, in any whack jobs reality, was Reflection, Uncaged, Pinnacle replaced by a constant barrage of Power House SWAT Potato?

I think I may have read somewhere that the community voted for the changes? I believe thats a total crock of B/S considering Reflection, Uncaged, and Pinnacle would outvote ANY other map that would ever come up. A simple glance at a statistics graph that 343 should have would show whats the most popular.

The terrible map selection and horrific decision making has pushed me to cease playing until they pull their heads out of that back side dark place.

It makes absolutely no sense to remove maps from a playlist - especially the most popular. If you want to breathe fresh air into a playlist then ADD maps and REDUCE the chance of the massively heavily played ones at the very least. DO NOT remove them. Its common sense that seems to be not so common around the 343 offices.

Pinnacle had something to do with spawns, it was incredibly easy to spawn trap. Uncaged, I think was voted out because it was just a highly diskiled map, and reflection is still in there, somewhere.

The super-elite players bitc… er … complained so much about some of the asymmetrical maps that they were removed - because they had to make the rest of Reach look exactly like MLG.

Seriously? All I seem to get to play is Sword Base. Oh wait, sometimes Magnums Sword Base.

They should remove objective based games-types from SWAT. There are other game lobbies where people who wish to play those can go to. I think however we are stuck with what we have since 343 is only 2 months away from the Halo 4 release.

Both Pinnacle & Uncaged were removed due to how unbalanced it was for Blue Team off-spawn.

SWAT has pretty much become a 3 map merry go round in my opinion, ever since those maps were removed it just hasnt been the same.

My friend and i still team up and play SWAT every week, but we always find ourselves talking about it’s lack of variety and lack of new maps, especially when we play on Sword base 7 times in a row.

I enjoyed being on either team on Pinnacle or Uncaged, and the reasons that were brought up about their removal can be said for some other maps as well, especially that garbage forge SWAT map on Tempest.

I’m glad i got to play on those maps before they got the axe, they were certainly a part of better times in the SWAT playlist.

ha! I bet u never seen before the tempest swat remake, temple, the stupidest map remake for a playlist ever, stupid remakes by stupid industries

I can agree wiht Pinnacle as I absolutely hated the spawns both before and after they patched them before removing it completely. HOWEVER, I know well enough that it was not a hated map across the community. As for Uncaged being a highly disliked map? I Completely 100% disagree. It would mostly beat out anything else on the voting just about every time. I do not think it was heavily one sided either - it may have been a little rough for blue at the start but I have won numerous times as the blue team and did not find it a shame at all that I got Blue. And to be honest - Sword Base is more 1 sided at the beginning of the match against Blue than UnCaged was, but that doesnt mean I dislike the map - Sword Base is one of my favorites for SWAT. But you dont FIX a problem by removing all options.

As for someone noting that reflection is still in there hidden somewhere, after 5 days of playing for an hour or two a night I have seen 2 reflection map choices: 1 for magnums and one for plots, neither of which are wanted or cared for.

This assumption that the community hates certain maps is completely absurd. Some complaints are justified such as the Blue team being completely screwed from the get off on Pinnacle. But to assume that the COMMUNITY does not like Uncaged or Reflection or whatever else they came up with just because a few made their voices heard on the forums is ridiculous. You can easily pull up play stats of maps - especially on 343/Bungie’s database side. You can see which maps get voted in the most. Those are obviously the community favorites regardless of the kids running to the forums because every match didnt go their way.

I have a HUGE problem with matchmaking in general (not just for halo but any game that adopts this sub-par style of match finding) but that doesnt mean if I complain about it enough on the forums its going to get ripped out of the game and replaced by Dedicated servers. Why? Because its blatantly obvious that most of the community prefers matchmaking. I do not understand why but I do understand that I am a minority here.

Enough of my rambling…all 4000 regulars of SWAT should post on here their feelings about which maps were removed.

I like that map, it works nicely. Like every map there is a control point that everyone goes for but it doesn’t matter seeing as how every map in reach has that design flaw in mind.

I also don’t have this problem. I get every 10 games or so on Temple or Unanchored? The anchor 9 map. Aside from dlc maps I regularly get maps on sword base, countdown, powerhouse, zealot, asylum, and reflection.

If I recall, blue team had the advantage in uncaged for swat.

That said, they’re at a disadvantage in pretty much ever other gametype and map (don’t even get me started on snipers hemorrage, that map should be abolished from snipers)

Regardless, like you said both maps were unbalanced…

Pinnacle, loved? Anyone who has ever played a swat match with me (when I was good at swat and actually played it) would say otherwise. 90% of my swat and sniper matches on pinnacle, the enemy team quits out.

Why?

Because all it takes is 1 good player with knowledge of the spawns to cause a spawntrap. You don’t even have to camp it. Just by moving along the left side from red to blue and back again, you can completely spawntrap and destroy the enemy team.
If you have a team with half a mind on that map, it will become an instant spawn kill.

Uncaged? Hah. If you spawn as blue team and your teammates have any common sense, a spawntrap is bound to happen. The only way to play that map is to camp the center and elbow and laugh at your enemys futile attempts to attack.

To tell the truth, there are no good maps in swat that arent DLC. Zealots ok, but gets bad pretty quick and just becomes a circling motion of a spawnkill, still the best non DLC map. But sword base? Reds have complete advantage, and with any decent aim can destroy the blues. Powerhouse? Just a bad map to begin with really. To open and bad spawning for a swat gametype.

And the weighting for reflection has gone down because, like most of the maps, if you hold the top center, the enemy is absolutley forced to come to you. Only smart movement can get you anywhere, and if the other team is anywhere near smart or decent, you’ve got no chance.

What swat does need is completely symmetrical maps with no vantage points or easily camped positions. Anything other than that is extortable. It needs maps specifically designed for its gameplay, something that has only been done once.

Who cares? SWAT is still fun!

I agree on taking out Objectives for SWAT but they ought to look for/add custom made SWAT maps “The good one’s obviously, maybe a Citadel remake.”

Uhm, yes. I’ve got a map made up that I’d like some feedback on. Is there a community somewhere that does Custom SWAT games? Sorry if this post isn’t relevant, forum newbie here.

So true, Little Moa. Red team would mostly get First Strike. And yet, im surprised you haven’t mentioned campers out on the Sniper Nest.

Temple is such a stupid -Yoink- map. Thats more like a Sniper Map. Its like once you respawn, someone already got you. 343i has to dump it, and replace it with Penance. Now that was a much better map. Unanchored, its fine. Played it before, looks somewhat the same. Btw, is Temple, part of the Tempest Map, or is it a Forge Map.

I’ve never once felt slighted because I spawned on the blue team. I’ve never once felt like I had a disadvantage on the blue team when playing on Uncaged. Pinnacle absolutely blue team was screwed from the start. But Uncaged? I think it was a complete mistake to remove it from the playlist.

Has anyone gotten Reflection in swat that wasnt an objective/magnums within the last week or two?

I’ve only seen it twice under objectives. Im getting severely tired of playing sword base and countdown with the random horrific powerhouse or boardwalk. Asylum was at the bottom of my favorites list and now its a relief to play it…there is something wrong with the direction this playlist/343 is going…

You know, i have to agree. Removing Uncaged was a big mistake. I think that map was by far the best swat map (but thats in my opinion. Others may think otherwise).
