Team Snipers Needs Mo Maps

I am excited to hear about all the updates coming to Reach in the coming weeks/months but I was really hoping that Team Snipers would get some love thrown at it. It’s a playlist I visit every time I play Reach. I just wish there were more maps support for it. There is only a few good sniper maps in the playlist and the bad ones should be taken out and replaced with new ones. Also it should be more than there are currently.

Please community, give me your thoughts on new maps for Team Snipers.

Community maps and a couple from Anniversary would be good for Snipers. As well as the removal of Atom, and possibly Uncaged.

However, the real problem with Snipers is that Snipers Pro gets voted rarely, which means it’s no longer team Snipers. It’s team Melee-Grenades-Pistol.

Uncaged and atom are good maps.
The only map that is truly terrible is hemmorage.

> Uncaged and atom are good maps.

Hemorrhage is bad, but not as bad. At least it’s a decent size, with some long LOS, so you can actually use the scope.

Don’t get me wrong though, I do like to have some no-scoping fun, but Atom has way too many things all over the map, and the LOS are pretty much nothing. Uncaged is just plainly unbalanced. It’s too vertical. If it was symmetrical, it would be better.

As much as I hate to say it, Boardwalk is probably one of the best Snipers maps we have right now.

atom and uncaged needs removed. Im not at all saying hemorrhage is a good map, but team snipers is for SNIPERS and it should have BIG lines of sight, not atom and uncaged.

Oh my lord…I’m done.

OT: Can’t wait for CE maps to be implemented to every playlist.

Uncaged is just old and bland… not to mention a poorly designed map for most aspects of the Halo game mechanics. It works well for 1 sided games, but Things like Team Snipers, the spawns are horrific and camping has never been so prominant, mainly because its the only real way to “succeed” at this map.

Hemhorage (however you spell it) is also bad for snipers, all camping, with one side having numerous vantage points over the other. It was fun with Halo 1 and 2, but doesn’t fit with how it was designed in Reach.

Spawns arent too good for Atom either…

Atom is pretty bad, but I’d take it over Hemorrhage any day. I’m also not a fan of Reflection. I don’t really think Uncaged is all the bad for snipers. Don’t get me wrong, I can definitely think of better maps, but it’s really not that bad for play. Tempest is a great map for snipers, and I have only gotten it once in Team Snipers. Powerhouse and Highlands are also pretty good choices. Other than that, we definitely need more Team Snipers maps.

Boardwalk is probably one of the worst snipers maps and yet its one of the best all at the same time.

That’s mainly because its the 3rd best snipers map, but really, there are only 2 that ever get voted.

As a person who has somewhere around 4000 games of snipers played (give or take), I would say it def needs new maps. Once they took out Pinnacle, it really really cut down the choices. Now a days, I’m playing games of 6 or 7 straight Uncaged games alone. Not that its bad, but after that many games, I can pretty much predict the spawns dependent on where my teammates are (Since I run in a TO4 everytime, I know where they are at)

Now they’ve got the DLC maps, but not everybody has those, so having them in the playlist really doesn’t mean much. That and the fact that tempest, Highlands, and breakpoint are just as big of camp fests as is Hemorrhage.

Powerhouse is never picked (even if its a choice between that or hemorrhage [as everybody hates])
Reflection is just a beatdown fest

Really Uncaged and Atom are the only 2 maps worth even playing in snipers…and well that’s all that is usually picked.

Even adding Countdown (which is really good for snipers [even though a possible beatdown fest]) and Zealot (nowhere to camp essentially) would be great for the playlist. Then throwing in new maps that have made it into other playlists like slayer and arena would be great as well. Hell, even sword base if a decent snipers map (Don’t knock it till you’ve ran customs in it).

The last thing I wanted to say is that you NEED to get rid of plain snipers. Kids would rather run up, beat you down, then throw a nade than actually try and use the sniper. Or better yet, they would rather just pistol you to death. Its not actually snipers, its not even a game type. Either that or upgrade the fact that you can choose snipers pro more than just snipers. It seems that you get to choose pro once out of every 4 choices and it shouldn’t be that way. It should be pro 3 out of every 4 times…

Blah rant done.

If you wanna run snipers, add me. Sadisticaiiy.

Seriously, why do you guys want to play on maps that are giant no scope fests? that makes no flipping sense.

Pretty much the same way I feel about the playlist.

Some of the best maps for the gametype aren’t even in the playlist. I think Affinity for one would be great for Snipers. Enclosed might be good. Kingdom too. Like you said, Countdown and Zealot.

However, the biggest problem is still default Snipers. No more Pistol/ Nades.

Affinity might actually be a bigger camp fest than hemorrhage. Its got a lot of tight turns and hiding places. Even though with 2 levels and great long STRAIGHT sight lines there isn’t much else there. However, its always worth testing out.

Enclosed actually wouldn’t be that bad of a map same with Kingdom. Kingdoms sight lines might actually prevent some spawn killing.

However the biggest flaw in my fav playlist is and will always be Nades :frowning:

Because 80% of Snipers’ population doesn’t understand the concept of a sniper. They think that the weapon is just a Shotgun with two less shots per clip.

Honestly, Spire is the perfect map for it. The rocky terrain provides a huge amount of cover, but the tower position still has sight on most of the map; this forces careful and stealthy movement without guaranteeing that you’re domed the instant you step out of cover. The tower is a double-edged sword: you can see and fire upon most of the map, but if you step out to the edge to take a shot, then most of the map can see and fire upon you. It’s insanely powerful yet insanely vulnerable at the same time, which allows for ranged, stealthy combat without stifling map movement.

At the same time, it also caters to the CQC junkies that so paradoxically comprise the majority of Team Snipers population. So long as they can exercise the minimal amount of patience necessary to move through the map without being insanely obvious about it, they can get to the BFG Man Cannon or Cliff Man Cannon, launch up to the Spire, and engage the targets up there using grenades and the Magnum. Those on the Spire have it similarly good; they can use whatever man-catchers are appropriate (Pelican-side or BFG-side) to drop from the Spire, traverse the map while their buddies up top recon it for them, and pick off any too-focused forces that are trying to snipe at the Spire from the ground.

(On a very much related note, BTB Snipers on Spire has to be the greatest thing ever put in Matchmaking.)

Unfortunately, we’re probably not going to see it in the playlist. Were it or any maps like it to be implemented, the current population would complain viciously either about actually having to kill someone from a distance of more than ten feet, or about actually having to find the enemy instead of waiting for them to take or spawn on one of Hemorrhage’s insanely predictable and unsafe movement paths.

All you need to do is think of this:

4v4 snipers on Spire.

5v5 snipers game on Highlands in Premium slayer BARELY get to 40…

Now you’re talking 4v4 snipers on Spire…one of the biggest and honestly most lopsided maps. Once you get the lead you can camp, yes, CAMP the top of the spire, without anybody down below seeing you and just wait for them to come up any of the lifts.

Spire would be one of, it not the WORST map to put in snipers.
