I’ve played a lot of games as a lone wolf, and I fully understand that sometimes the other team will be coordinated and really tough to beat, especially at higher CSR levels. But there are a few behaviors that make no sense to me, lone wolf or not:
-
Not helping a teammate take down an opposing player
Suppose teammate A has engaged an opposing player. Another teammate B is in range to also engage the opponent. Instead, B has a sword and they want to get in close to get the sword kill. While that happens, A gets killed by the opponent, but B eventually gets the sword kill. B should switch weapons to help A before he dies, period. Instead of one player from each team dying, only the opponent dies. Basically, if you can see an opponent and have a shot, take it even if you only get that one hit - it will help your teammate. -
Not paying attention to the kill feed
One of the benefits of team slayer is that you can see the player indicator of your teammates through the map. If your teammate dies, say by a shotgun, you can see where that occurred and avoid the area, or prepare to take on a shotgun. I see over and over again players walk into campers or outmatched situations when there’s actually a lot of info available to avoid this. -
Going around the map alone
There’s a reason that the team initially spawns together. It’s so much easier to get kills if you and a teammate are taking down the opposing player. Just like 1 and 2, even if during the skirmish you only hit the opponent one time, that means one less hit needed for your teammate who is also attacking them. And you can quickly find your teammate in the map, and also see who’s engaged (because their name is yellow), so get there and prevent a death! In the games where I’ve been completely dominated, it’s when the other team always has 2 or more players attacking me.
Obviously, being a lone wolf in a team game has its disadvantages, but these are easy mistakes to correct.
