After reading this week’s bulletin, I question why Team Scoring for the Castle Map Pack DLC is being applied as opposed to Individual Scoring. Why?
One of the ‘takeaways’ that Bungie took from Halo 3 (or at least I assumed) was the negative impact matchmaking achievements placed on ranked matchmaking. This was reflected with the achievements that Bungie made available in Reach. They were either campaign based or something so trivial in matchmaking (ie get a First Strike) that it wouldn’t impact the game experience for others. Now I know future 343 DLC was released later on for Reach with specific matchmaking achievements, however, without a ‘true’ ranking system those achievements (and gameplay behavior) did not apply.
So now…we have new achievements like Hello Nurse and Outta My Way in a ranked playlist that is supposed to have more “integrity” than individual CSR playlists. Doesn’t make much sense to me. Why would I risk going into this playlist with achievements that are counterproductive to team play and harm my ranking? I don’t want a guy camping on my team waiting to finally assassinate that player using a hardlight shield.
I would look at going the individual ranking route for this playlist. That way achievement behavior/boosting doesn’t affect others. Just my two cents…
