I’m sure many of you are very aware of the folks in matchmaking who love to destroy team vehicles or run around punching the guy with the sniper rifle. I have found it to be a much bigger issue in Halo 4 than in previous titles. I don’t think this speaks much to the game, but more to what online gamers have turned into. However, I do think there might be some options to quell the misbehavior.
One, is it possible to make destroying or EMP a friendly vehicle an offense one could get booted for? I would think that accidents happen, so multiple times in one game should do it. As far as the ol’ EMP my team cuz i haz to get mantis. I would think that multiple emp shots on a friendly vehicle within a given time frame could accurately detect these unpleasant folks.
Last night one of my friends actually said he would rather die and be completely betrayed, so that he would have the option of booting the player. Maybe the lack of consequences is leading to this type of thing occurring more in Halo 4.
There always was that guy who was miffed about not getting the sniper rifle or the tank, but it happened infrequently. In Halo 4 it happens 50% of the time. It is ruining the gaming experience for many. I had a friend last night decide to call it quits because he couldn’t take the one guy standing in front of him punching him when he had the snipe, then another guy blowing his vehicle up. I actually avoid using those things so I can avoid those types of players.
I have been using the feedback mechanism as often as I can, but I really don’t think it impacts a single thing…there will always be another offender taking his place in the next match.
We have to get rid of these folks, give them matchmaking bans, do something, or else they will ruin the game. And maybe thats just what some of them are out there to do…
Please offer your suggestions and ideas. I hope 343i has some idea how to deal with these types of players and plans to implement it soon. Maybe the banhammer is busy collecting data and will soon be swinging with righteous vengeance…I only can hope.
I wish they would track them and simply start teaming them up with other team killers. Sort of a bush league of A holes. Also they get a background they can’t remove so if they show up you know who they are.
I’m down for public shaming. A “I teamkilled and all I got was this stupid sign” sign hanging around their necks and a dunce cap.
Seriously though, it;s insanely frustrating. And it’s inanely childish. It happens to me more on Dominion than any other game type (I don’t play BTB). I mean hell, the vehicles respawn every 5 minutes, and the Sniper/Rockets/Shotgun/Saw spawn every 30 seconds in 9 different spots on the map. GO GET YOUR OWN!
> I agree OP.
> Betray and punish must back, this game promote stupid players. But with ordenances is a problem…
100% agree, I am constantly being ran over by team-mates vehicles (betrayed) and there is no penalty for stupid drivers. After 5 of my last ordinance drops, I finally got a decent weapon only to get betrayed by a team-mate driving a worthog. It is unbelievably frustrating.
to be honest mate it probably is the game people get bored so they grief their team mates give them a chance to stop but if they keep on then shoot em
@De Reck 87
they weren’t paying attention but it’s still a betrayal so they should get booted aside from that it’s just an overly frequent accident caused by map design and poor focus
Last time someone started griefing me over the Sniper Rifle, I emptied the whole thing into the ground except for one shot, and dropped it for a nearby boltshot. I cussed me out profusely for that over mic. >:) Who’s griefing now?
Someone in front of me while im sniping=Meatshield
Someone trying to run me over=EMP then stick em
Someone destroying vehicles=quit game
Someone doing any of these things=avoid player
Anyone doing these things=report for harassment over team chat=final laugh
Anyone doing these things=feel sorry for them
Well that is my routine for these people, so hope this helps.Due to avoiding so many players im seeing better and better teammates overall, must be because im Filtering the bad out from the good.
I avoid even players who are Lacking skill and “not understanding the game”(which many people get put under).
I think another part of this problem are the specific Matchmaking achievements. Last night I saw a group of players loose 3 games in a row, as they were trying to just get the achievements. The 3 games were on Harvest and all they did were take both warthogs and drive in circles around the map. Seeing that the games were objective based driving around was pointless.
Then after I got in a Mantis ( the other teams mind you ) the same group just emp’ed my Mantis and DMR’d it till it blew up. They did more damage to me then the opposing team. Their reasoning for all of horrible play " I don’t care if we loose man, I want my Achievements!"
Commendations are also a part of the problem. It wasn’t as much of a issue when everyone wasn’t trying to level up that little bar so they can unlock a stance.
Same, i play SWAT for those reasons as well, but lately it feels like everyone is using aimbots, that or everyone using keyboard and mouse. Its pretty obvious when they are if you watch some of the killcams the mouse bypasses the sensitivity, so they look around far faster than a controller would allow.

You realize that killcams have been broken since the game was released, right? You’ll never get an accurate replay of the kill. I’ve got 43,000 kills, most in SWAT and I don’t recall anyone using aimbots. The only cheat I’ve seen is the headless hack where the player’s head is removed. But I think the biggest factor is lag. In a game like SWAT it can easily make/break the outcome.
I don’t care if a player is using a controller, mouse/keyboard, joystick, etc. to play the game. They each have their advantages/disadvantages.
Personally I think it should be an automatic boot if you betray in a BTB game, mainly due to the fact that you can only betray through splatters, and if you splatter your own team then you deserve it.
Though kinda weird that a Mongoose can splatter you, but a Mantis stamping on a teammate does nothing…
Just earlier I was in a tank on a killing frenzy (literlly like a minute into the match), got a killtacular, and then a teammate throws to stickies at me. I was quickly destroyed following that.
He then got into the tank next time it respawned, and I lost it and did the same to him. feels ashamed

What if you’re driving a Warthog at speed and a teammate jumps out from nowhere? Or thruster packs right into you? Or you just generally accidentally splatter someone? It happens a lot you know.
