TEAM objective.

the title says it all, this is a playlist for team based objective games, all the arguments i have seen so far against not being able to drop the flag all revolve around the individual’s ability to fight effectively solo…

questions;

1 if you’re here to lone-wolf, why are you in team objective?

2 if you’re just here for kills, why are you in team objective?

3 if you’re joining team objective solo without a mic/headset why are you surprised there is no teamwork?

answers;

1 because you just want to try pad your KD and don’t want to help your team win - go play slayer kid.

2 because there is no kill limit… go play slayer kid.

3 no, seriously, why are you surprised there is no teamwork if none of the people on your team can talk to/hear you? this is a team focused playlist why are you here if you refuse to be able to communicate with your team? (yes I also believe in team objective party chat should be disabled to prevent solo’s from joining in party chat effectively the same thing as having no mic/headset)

so until you can form a coherent and logical argument against mechanics that suit a team focused game type in an objective based playlist, stop posting things like;

but i can’t defend myself”… you’re running the flag that’s not your job.

but i don’t want to accidentally auto-grab the flag with a power weapon”… you can see where the flag is on your HUD how did you accidentally pick it up? look where you’re going.

and my personal favourite… “i don’t like relying on my team if they are randoms”… this is the team objective playlist and with these new mechanics it’s almost a guarantee that they will be here to play team objective so why would they not support you running the flag for their victory? and its generally found that if the enemy know where the flag runner is, that is where they are going, I and some people I know would actually use the flag runner as bait and cover the approaches to its position allowing me to both protect you and rack up some kills.

TL:DR - I would be deeply appreciative if you would refrain from speaking. AND GET OUT OF TEAM OBJECTIVE IF YOU AREN’T THERE TO PLAY OBJECTIVE AND GO BACK TO SLAYER.

edit on a side note can we use AAs while carrying the flag don’t expect we can, but haven’t seen this confirmed anywhere.

I accept your argument and can see where you’re coming from. But there are better ways to encourage teamwork in an objective gametype, specifically CTF.

this is exactly how I feel about it. I used to love objectives but drifted because much of the population was just there to either stat pad or grief. I hope this new ctf will encourage those people to go to another playlist and let the people who love objectives enjoy it. i do however worry slightly about the auto pick up of the flag because I’m worried that during a firefight with someone guarding the flag I may sidestep to close and accidentally grab it. this however is a minor issue that I will probably learn to prevent fairly quickly.

and when you are in those playlist and an objective game comes up 9/10 times in reach they are not picked over a slayer variant… so by all means play those playlist as these objective changes will 9/10games not apply to you :slight_smile:

The purpose of those playlists is teamwork.

This makes sure teamwork is required to win, whether that is defending your flag carrier or providing a big distraction as a team.

It also confirms that those that pick up the flag are committed. If you have a power weapon, you won’t pick up the flag as you’re more useful as a defender. If you pick up the flag, you’ll stick with it and get better at it. And the target over your head will encoourage more teamwork than ever… you don’t have much time to get your carrier out.

Agreed 100%. What I find in TO is mostly people wanting to pad their stats which frankly, is freakin sad.

You know what would fix objective? A ranking system. Not this bs with not being able to drop the flag. If anything, being locked into the flag will make me want to play flag even less.

NO need for the bashing at the end but I can agree on some things yes.

meh people will play what they want how they want and no matter how much you want them to play a certain way they will always defy you.

oh the whole argument about getting kills in objective is rather silly. There is this thing called defense which some of us enjoy doing. Nothing more satisfying than killing the entire enemy team and shutting them out of an objective game because they could never touch the flag / bomb / territory =)

I don’t like the fact you cannot drop the flag. Flag tossing was phenomenal in Halo and made ctf style games really unique compared to other shooters that had ctf. But even with the new style it’s not gunna stop me from doing damage. Now I’ll get a pistol while I cap the flag. That is already overpowered enough for a player who knows how to wield it correctly =)

im well aware of the defending aspect of objective games, thats the part im best at, they do not enter, or leave if they do, my base.

im talking about people who get the opportunity to grab an objective and choose to ignore it and wait for enemies to re-spawn so they can keep getting kills and then when they die in the enemy base with a power weapon and don’t defend against the attacking team instead run halfway across the map to try get another power weapon and die again…

now when these unless stat padders go near the flag they can either die and drop their precious stat, or score the flag.

Why do people agree with everything 343 does> even if its a terrible idea. frist Objective games invole slaying. teamwork doesnt mean everyone run to the flag. you have to have pppl on your team who slay

I get the flag a teamate covers me. i then drop the flag off at a point another teamate picks it up while i now cover him then he drops it off to the teamate who stays at the base defending our flag, he picks it up while the other 3 slay and cover him. then repeat
