This could’ve been a great discussion if Halo 5 gave us a reason to like Fireteam Osiris. Alas, they didn’t.

I’m #TeamChief (of course). I think Locke and his team have potential though.

I don’t think anyone can truly be on #TeamLocke. Heck, even Locke was #TeamChief in the game.

Locke could have been a great and interesting character. He had an interesting backstory and foundation, but none of that was built upon in a positive manner in Halo 5. Unfortunately, the lead writer who shall not be named does not understand how to write good characters, create meaningful dialogue or has any understanding of what makes a good story. At best, Locke felt very forced on us, we were not given any good reason to like him other than “Ermagerd, Locke killed Jul… WHILE DOING A FLIP”

Well if you’re referring to the whole Hunt the Truth thing I never got what the dispute was even about. Its not like Osiris is out to kill Cortana and Chief doesn’t believe shes the villain or can be redeemed. If that is indeed what 343 was trying to do then they utterly failed to convey that. It looked an aweful lot like Osiris trying to rescue Chief from Cortana which is silly for a host of reasons. Chiefs always in danger and Cortana doesn’t want to kill him. Its a flawed premise.

I would have much rather had Chief, on his own, going from world to world, meeting the Arbiter and helping him win his war. Having him go on this big quest to try and set things right and get Cortana back only to be (seemingly) crushed when he learns shes come back as this monster. Like they imply in the 2013 E3 trailer. Not a three mission true ending to Halo 4…
