team killing problem

WHY? the past 5 games i have played i have had teamates team kill me constantly with no notice or anything to boot them, however the second i accidental run one over(when they jump in front of my vehicle) i get booted? WHY? this is asinine. i understand some people like to troll, but this is ridiculous. As i am typing this even, i am sitting in blue base and there is a kid killing me for not moving. complete bullcrap. Am i the only one with this problem? something needs to be done.

> Every player has a value that tracks the damage they’ve done to their teammates, and the system that governs that value takes into account many things. The value has a threshold, and if you commit a betrayal that pushes you over the threshold or if you are over the threshold and commit a betrayal your teammate will be prompted to boot you. The value is in a constant state of degradation but it decays slowly and carries over between games. This is done to ensure that a problematic player doesn’t have their slate wiped clean and regain the ability to commit excessive flagrant actions against their allies every time they load into a game. A player may have two or three betrayals in a game and not get booted, but when that’s the case there is a good chance a teammate in the next game will be prompted to boot them on their first betrayal in that new game.

If you stopped shooting people yourself so often, you would have had the option to boot, it is all down to you for this, nothing needs to be done.

The current boot system with the entire karma factor is asinine. Why make such a complex system if its as easy as 1, 2, 3?

  1. First betrayal is forgiven
  2. Second betrayal gives the victim and option to forgive or kick
  3. Third betrayal automatically kicks the culprit

Perhaps the resources could be better used for IDK, spectator features?

Are your by any chance in Grifball? That is a playlist that does not allow for betrayal booting because it happens so much accidentally.

Wow… I see what you did there.
Spectator Mode is the new “want” for Halo4 isn’t it? Why bring it into Reach?

When we can come up with a system that prevents teammates without mics from running into areas where I threw my grenade 4 seconds ago so that I don’t get the bad side of Karma, I’ll be all over that.
Perhaps a landing zone and splash indicator displayed on our HUD’s to indicate team based explosives would be helpful.

Play. With. Friends. Problem solved.

The problem is that if this system is implemented, then the trolls (In nice language) can just betray one guy every game with impunity.

My proposed system is that it varies by weapon and player health before you shoot them.

For example, I’m holding an AR and my teammate just killed a guy and I hold down the trigger too long and kill him when he has red health. This should not be a betrayal. However, if he has full health and I AR him too death, it should ALWAYS be a betrayal (You just can’t do that accidently). If I knock someone’s shields off and they get killed, it should count as a betrayal AND a kill. Melee should also frequently count because it is almost impossible to melee a teammate since there is no lunge or autoaim.

If I’m holding a Rocket Launcher for example or driving a vehicle, then it should not count unless I do this consistantly, since it is MUCH EASIER to accidentally betray a guy with Rockets than with an Assault Rifle.

I dont know how it works, but Im willing to bet that it would be pretty difficult to create a system that can read every detail that you mentioned. It would be awesome but knowing the time, dedication, and work that they put in to create games Im sure it would be made that way if it were possible.

What a load of crap. I’ve run into habitual betrayers many times that betray me at the start of games if I attempt to gain a power weapon and can then betray me 2-3 times again often when I have an empty power weapon on my back with no option to boot.

I’m past caring at this point as I’d rather put up Halo 3’s worse netcode then betrayers and possibly the quit ban in Halo Reach because I refuse to stay around and be griefed and/or betrayed by teammates who often quit/get booted by someone else (very rare) or cause other teammates to quit putting me on a numbers down team (more often than not).

You should not have to search with a party of friends for a game to be playable.

i have problems with teamkilling too. i shoot and shoot and shoot my teammates, only to have an enemy come along and effortlessly finish them due to the extra autoaim they have. all that work and i dont end up with a kill or even an assist.

It’s not a problem, it never has been a problem.

I too have faced this problem, and no, it isnt right and I dont know how the system works. If the guy starts, I just resort to running away. If he persues me and kills me, then I have a problem. I have found that there is no better insult then to chase them down afterwards and continue to keep their shild down so the enemie can shoot them in the foot and kill them. Or just pester them until they shoot me and then thier two betrayals will give me an option to boot.

There’s a quit and easy solution to this problem: switch playlists, if you play free for all/rumble pit there are no teams. Man that reminds me of the weekend ffa jackpot run, while in oddball I yoinked someone while using the oddball then killed the would be assassin. It was so awesome.
