Team Doubles Playlist

This is by far my favorite playlist. I would love to see it return. I saw a twitter post awhile back from a 343i employee that said they were building forge maps specifically for 2v2. Is there any more news on this?

A couple of months ago, there was a 2v2 forge map contest. I do not know the status of the winners from the contest though, and it’s likely that 343 will use those top maps for a 2v2 playlist several months from now.

Here was a quote from Warholic regarding that 2v2 map contest: “In regards to the 2v2 maps, we’ll be setting up a playlist based on the top 10 - 12 maps from the contest. I wanted to keep that as a surprise but oh well.”

It’s not like it’s our fault that 343 couldn’t include a permanent 2v2 playlist at least a few months after launch.

It has been almost 8 months and still no doubles playlist. I think they don’t want too many playlists because they want people to play Warzone all day and binge on REQ packs.

My understanding is that they’ve had those maps since the end of March, sent them back to the authors for revision some time ago with a 3 day deadline, got them back, and subsequently have done basically nothing with them. Bravo replied to a post to this effect on Reddit with, basically “we’re testing them.” Apparently it takes months and months for a AAA developer to “test” forge maps that were certainly playtested to death before submission. Which is cute, given the state of the BTB maps they threw out with obvious flaws people found immediately. The clear reality is that they don’t give a -Yoink- about doubles, which is why they’ve said and done nothing about it and why even that Forge contest was pretty much under the radar for anyone not keeping up on Forge community or looking for info on Doubles. Mythic Shotty Snipers is clearly more important.

Actually, here are the results for the 2v2 forge map contest.

All of this bolded stuff right here frustrates me to no end about 343’s priorities.

I would actually play this game again if they added doubles.

Yes, but the pipeline for incorporating the doubles maps into a playlist for match-making was separate, as far as I understand, and should have gone forward some time ago if it was anything resembling a priority for 343. Even going by the final results of the content, that’s still a month that 343 has done and said nothing about it, regardless.

This what I don’t get. They knew that Team Doubles was a popular play lists and that the community wanted it as far back as November. We were supposed to be able to vote on the weekend/weekly play lists and the more popular ones “had a chance” of becoming permanent. Then, we heard nothing on the subject and the voting was taken away. Unless I missed an update?

Each weekend, we’re giving you the option to vote on which new or returning playlists you want to see in matchmaking. Each time a new mode is introduced, it’ll earn the right to be a poll option for two weeks, win or lose. That said, Shotty Snipers is once again a poll option in this week’s poll.
However, due to community request, a serious contender will also be an option for the next two weeks – Doubles. As a reminder, the most popular playlists have the possibility of becoming a permanent offering in the matchmaking lineup.
Vote in the below poll by 11:59 PM PT Wednesday night, and we’ll announce the winner after the poll closes. We’ll see you in matchmaking this weekend.

I actually remember reading that and getting excited for the staple playlists they left out at launch. 8 months later, still no sign of them.

Oh you are totally correct in this regard, but really I posted this link because it gives us an idea of the maps that will make it to matchmaking in the future considering the quote by Warholic within my other post. I am extremely disappointed in 343’s priority in some ridiculous weekly social game mode instead of a well defined playlist in halo. I’m not sure if all of 343 or just Quinn Delhoyo share distaste of 2v2, but it’s still frustrating nonetheless. I just want an update based on these forge contest results from 343 regarding the 2v2 playlist we should be receiving soon, maybe in this next update on hog wild.

343 is actually going to be using the doubles maps submitted within the forge contest for their playlist in the future, so this pipeline of the doubles maps is not separate by any means. About 10 of the best maps from the contest (including the finalist maps) will be included for doubles. What really bothers me is how 343 did receive the 10 maps on March 31, 2 months given from then till now for them to actually create a doubles playlist. It’s so stupid how if given the proper dedication, 343 could’ve released the playlist during MoR, but it doesn’t even seem like they’ll release it during June. Such potential for halo 5 is lost because of their lack of prioritization in the proper projects.
