Team DLC question

When Halo 4 first came out, I was very hesitant to buy the season pass. I like 4v4 Slayer so decided not to buy the Season pass (assuming only a fraction of the DLC would cater to 4v4) and bought the Majestic and Bullseye map pack separately.

This means I do not own Castle or Crimson. I decided not to buy these map packs because my friend bought the season pass. I got to try out all maps par Outcast and decided not to buy the DLC because the only map that really appealed to me was Perdition which I got the pleasure of playing a couple of times.

Because I don’t own these DLC, obviously I don’t own the maps Harvest and Daybreak which are included in the Team DLC playlist. This surprised me at first seen as both maps play best with 5-6 players per team. I assumed we were going to get a second DLC playlist for 5v5/6v6 including Crimson and Castle DLC only.

Does this mean I will not be able to play the playlist? If so that really sucks because that means I cannot play the DLC I payed for. The last time I saw a DLC map in matchmaking was about 2 weeks back. A game on Skyline with my friends. It wasn’t that great though because I got kicked out of the lobby for whatever reason. Before that I hadn’t played DLC in about a month.

I shouldn’t have to pay an extra £15 in order to participate in a 2 week playlist including maps I have already payed for. There is no chance Harvest and Daybreak will be picked over Skyline and Pitfall. They just don’t cater very well to 4v4.

HArvest plays surprisingly well in 4v4, since its not really that big of a “big map”. IF you adjust for Halo 4’s movement speeds and the addition of sprint, its almost like playing on Rats Nest in Halo 3 (which I had plenty of 4v4 games on), albeit it slightly bigger. Same thing goes for Daybreak, which is more of a medium sized map thats similar in size to Landfall. I mean, if Complex can play 4v4 matches, then why not Daybreak and Harvest?

I don’t think theres been any confirmation yet that all the DLC is required for the playlist. I mean it could be DLC optional, where you can play on the map pack you have and it doesn’t find games for the DLC you don’t own. Either way, we will know on Monday what the situation is.

There has been confirmation in the Bulletin:

> Starting Monday we’ll have two weeks of Team DLC, which will feature a healthy mix of game types: Slayer, King of the Hill, Extraction, SWAT, Snipers, Ricochet, Regicide, and Oddball variants will be available on the following maps:
>
> Skyline
> Monolith
> Landfall
> Daybreak
> Harvest
> Vertigo
> Pitfall
>
> We hope that you enjoy the Team DLC featured playlist, which will be available until February 3rd. As always, head on over to the War Games Feedback section and let us know what you think once you’ve had a chance to play some games.

@OP, is ₤15 really that big of a deal? I say give in and buy them. Play the playlist and maybe contribute to 343i deciding to make it permanent. Even if Harvest and Daybreak aren’t picked that often, and the playlist is only for a couple of weeks, you will still get to play the others. As well as helping to contribute to the odds of DLC coming it in other playlists.

There’ll be a 6v6 DLC playlist coming in the near future called Squad DLC, I believe. Then we will see the larger maps come into play

Yes, thank you, I forgot about this.

Give in and pay another £15 in order to play maps I’ve already payed money for? No thanks. Especially considering the £15 extra I’m playing goes towards maps I don’t like nor will I get to play on anyway.

This doesn’t state that all the map packs will be required. It just says which maps will be in the playlists. It could also mean that the playlist is DLC optional, where you can still play if you don’t have some of the DLC.

For example, will we still be able to play in the playlist if we only have Majectic/Bullseye/Champions bundle and not Crimson or Castle? Or can we play if we only have Majestic and none of the others? Thats what I’m getting at, it doesn’t state that you need ALL the DLC to play in the playlist.
