So I was playing Reach today and I was fighting well with a sniper and assault rifle against two-three enemies with an overshield. Then, someone on my team shot me with a Magnum and melee’d my shields down. Afterwards, one of my opponents finished me off with a few shots. My teammate was killed shortly after. I don’t care if it was an accident, I think that he should be punished for it, not me.
For Halo 4, I think that there should be a system for punishing people who harm their own teammates. Some people have told me that there is no more teamkilling in Halo 4, but I’m positive there will be at least a few modes with teamkilling. I hope to see that the more damage you do to your allies, the more credits you will lose/not gain. Some impact of a rocket launcher? Understandable. Three shots from a magnum? Just no.
Whenever I get betrayed, I never get the option to boot. Whenever I kill the people who betray me, they boot me out of the game. It’s so frustrating!
The betrayal system needs to be improve. I hope it will be for Halo 4.
I think EVERY betrayal should get the option to boot no matter what. Then they could also add stuff like betrayal cam’s and not allow the person to boot until the replay has been played. That’d decrease booting and give people time to think about it.

I like this idea. I am tired of accidentally rolling over a team mate when he sticks his head around a corner and then being booted for it.

even if you provide evidence towards an accident, some people will be too clouded by winning/kills/K.D/Credits/ect. that they will not care, and just hit the boot button anyway, along with them going “Get this stupid Replay out of the way and let me respawn” as the playback shows the kill
like for example, there’s a guy who’s on the front lines, gunning down people with his BR, he’s got a killing spree going, and is almost about to get a killing frenzy when out of nowhere, a friendly warthog comes out of the sky, and splatters him (the warthog was launched by a rocket)
angry that the warthog driver disrupted his spree, he boots him, not caring to think before he acts

A lot of people are just tempted by the ‘x’ to boot button and will just press it anyway. If they’re actually shown it is an accident, some, sane people mightn’t actually boot.
But if the Reach community comes in, it will not work.
Have you ever been betrayed in BTB for the sniper? On more than one occasion i have been betrayed 3 or 4 times without the option to boot. Finally i rage and kill him and i instantly get booted.
Personally, I think players should be rewarded for each point of damage they deal to an opponent and penalized for each point of damage they deal on an ally.
As for betrayal, I think making Kill/Death more into Positive/Negative and adding 1 to Negative should do the trick for intentionnal betrayal. Betrayal Cam would really work for accidental overall, I think, but not 100% because it’s not a solution for a black-and-white problem.

This.
It’s complete -Yoink-.
Plus betrayers usually suck -Yoink- at sniper.
In my opinion if you are betrayed then you should not have a death awarded and your kill streak should still be running when you respawn.
But we have all been in that situation where we are fighting an enemy at close range and a team mate throws in a grenade killing you both. In this case the enemy would usually get the kill. If this happens the enemy should be awarded the kill but you should not be given a death as the cause of your death was the grenade thrown by the teammate. The same goes if your ally lowers your shield and an enemy gets the last hit.

Nicely said, sir.
Atleast now I’d dare to boot the guy betraying me. In Reach, I won’t 'cause that means one less teammate.
The problem is that it is impossible for the game to tell if the betrayal was accidental, or intentional. It just can’t be done.
But I reckon that after you do a certain amount of damage to your teammates, (e.g. shooting them until their shields pop, wait for them to go up, lower them down again) the victim should have the option to boot.
This, alongside the betrayal booting system we have now, could work.
But keep in mind that in Halo 4, you can have people join mid-game. This is gonna help a bunch.
This may be terrible, but I reckon if you get the option to boot and you don’t boot them, you get rewarded with something, not sure what though, nothing major, like a tiny bit of xp or something? People would most likely boost it though
Maybe there should be no reward if you’re partnered up with them, or they’re on your friends list.
Might be a bit stupid but I reckon it’d cut the amount of unjust boots.
Also you can only get it once in a game, it wouldn’t be much xp either, not enough to boost, but good enough to accept and forgive your team.
