Team colour overlay makes cosmetics redundant

Oh boy, a new Halo game and a forum going nuts as usual. The more things change, the more they stay the same. I almost feel a bit embarrased adding more criticism.

I just wanted to address that it’s somewhat ironic and self defeating that the battlepass system focusses on earning cosmetic items, while in play it’s quite hard to differentiate who is who and who is wearing what exactly, because of the not so subtle team colour overlay and outline. The glow pretty much obscures the cosmetics, so I don’t really see how this is an improvement over classic RvB. I suppose it’s not really worth buying a battlepass because of this.

I get that making team colours less obvious, would bring some (dark) armor sets in the pay to win territory, so not really an option. Would it not just be better if it was reverted to a RvB pallette, maybe have players choose from a set of fixed team colours? (Like you see in games like Rocket League, fancy skins excluded).

Who agrees?

I didn’t have a hard time seeing people’s armor through the outlines. It was actually kind of easier than it was in the flights.

I agree that the highlight is not helpful for seeing you “skins”. I let my kids play a few rounds and my 10 year old kept trying to shoot his teammates because he was constantly confused on who was who. It’s also very obvious to see enemies from far away now, no hiding.
