Team color vibrance: give us a personal toggle

We need a personal menu option to turn off the extra vibrance added to the team armor colors in multiplayer. An option to go back to what it was in the beta, or what it looks like when you put red or blue on your personal Spartan colors.

Selecting this option would make all Spartan team colors more natural for your screen, and would ONLY affect what you personally see on your screen (so it’s not like some kind of cheap advantage thing where you tone down your own armor on everyone else’s screen). This kind of option isn’t so far-fetched, as some games offer a “colorblind mode” that makes changes to important team-based HUD colors.

It’s absolutely ridiculously vivid (especially on maps with bright lighting) and it completely drowns out the detail in the armor. It makes the game feel incredibly graphically weak in that regard, and it’s a waste of the game’s graphical potential. Team games are the vast majority of what people will be playing (since there’s only one playlist in which you actually get to see your personal Spartan armor colors), so why make it so the armor looks terrible in team games? Why not let people choose, even if it puts them at a slight disadvantage?

I really don’t need to see armor color THAT much. That’s simply not how most people pick their targets. Most Halo players go by red reticle and name-pop, not armor color. I hardly ever remember what team color I am anyway.

Im okay with the way it is. Sort gives a styke to it.

I would actually like to see shades of red and blue instead of just straight red and blue. Maybe base it on the lightness level of your base color. So for example, dark brown would be dark blue, brown would be blue, tan would be light blue. I think it could add some variation to team colors while still maintaining the color system of RvB.

Or perhaps something like Red vs Blue (the machinima) where people have different color-variations of red or blue. For instance, blue team could have blue, cyan, indigo, etc. and red team could have red, red-orange, burgundy, etc. Maybe not the extent that you see in the machinima, but something that gives you a slight amount more variety than just red or blue and how light or dark.

Obviously this would never happen when 343 is stressing competition, fairness, and e-sports appeal, but it’s cool to think about.
